The suspect was identified as 21-year-old Nasire Best, said a law enforcement official who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the investigation.

It was the third time in the past month that gunfire has broken out near the president following incidents at the White House Correspondents' Association Dinner in April and near the Washington Monument earlier in May.

So far no motive but I will assume he's a leftist with an acute case of TDS until proven otherwise.

According to the New York Post, Best had previously come to the attention of the Secret Service and had allegedly violated a court order directing him to stay away from the White House premises.

The report also claimed that Best had approached the White House once before in June 2025.

Reports claim Best believed he was Jesus Christ

The New York Post further reported that Best believed he was Jesus Christ, though officials have not publicly confirmed the claim.

Apart from Best, at least one bystander was reportedly injured during the exchange of gunfire between the suspect and Secret Service personnel. No law enforcement officials were injured in the incident, according to multiple reports.
