Yeah if everyone is running in different directions it soon becomes a shit show.

You need like a common interest, or like theme for a forum or it often just ends up like the monkey enclosure at a zoo.

Poo flung everywhere.

we're not a regular forum.... we're more of a forum tutorial.... its near impossible to be permabanned.... and regardless of what you post, you're equally likely to get both supporting and opposing responses.... its a good forum for beginners and a great forum for retirement.... i consider myself retired....

Yeah im just in my 40s and ive considered myself forum retired for like 10years lol

Ive just been trying to find somewhere with a reasonable amount of activity and diversity to hang my hat as all my favorite haunts are now 404 or graveyards.

Fucking social media demolished the forum scene.

Yeah it kind of is, but the rise of FB, Insta and that stuff was the demise of many a forum and for whatever reason i always preferred communicating on forums.

I agree to a degree...but Instagram is a beast in the sense of content. Your interests and your content.

The problem with forums is the over-sensitivity and the bias moderation. Try to match someone's sick troll, and I can troll sicker than anyone, and you're subjected to a biased ridicule. Hahahahaaa...which is a fucking laugh in itself!

I just find the aesthetic and navigation and ease of re finding threads, posts and things suits me a lot better i find insta and FB more like throwaway convos as soon as its sent its gone and buried.

Im not denying theres a lot of content to be had on Insta and stuff but you know i gots me joogle.

As have we all...but Instagram is a constant avenue of reward. Type in your interest and meet fellow-minded people throughout the world with almost limitless enthusiasm and content. Content being the prerogative! Forums don't offer that too much these days...bar a few lame trolls/flamers trying to convince you that they do. This fuckwit avatar_Flynn and his supposed sibling comes to mind.

The dumbest duo to ever register.

My last account was hacked! But the content is massive...and I resigned, albeit without massive complaint directed at Zuckerberg on deaf ears.

I briefly had a facebook account in 2009 because it was easier to upload videos with my SA girlfriend at the time.

Platforms like Facebook, Xwitter, etc. unarguably contributed to the decline of forums but from my experiences what actually killed the ones that have gone dark was almost always cannibalism. The remaining participants turned on each other with such toxic voraciousness even forums that managed to survive (though not without casualties) the initial mauling were fatally poisoned and inevitably succumbed to their injuries.

Let's be honest...

...how bad does the overall forumsphere situation have to be if Facebook or Xwitter begin to look like reasonable alternatives?

Or maybe it's a chicken-or-egg proposition and the answer depends on one's own perspective.

As a scientist myself, I absolutely love the chicken-or-egg proposition as such.

Do you know why the chicken came first? Because of cellular mitosis first and foremost and then chicken.

Why is the amniotic egg considered an important evolutionary breakthrough ) It prolongs embryonic development. It permits internal fertilization to be replaced by external fertilization. It has a shell that increases gas exchange. It provides insulation to conserve heat.

And thus allowing said chicken to produce more eggs internally in the interim.

What came first...the chicken or the egg?

Hahahahahahaaa....the fucking chicken!

People lose the ability to play nice in a small pool.

That's what commonly happened...then we'd have to expand or troll other message boards.
