The latest "suspension" on Friday occurred after Carney had a rough few days on the campaign trail, facing questions about meeting with a pro-Beijing group he said he had never heard of, plus more revelations about Brookfield Asset Management's use of tax havens in Bermuda and the Cayman Islands for multi-billion-dollar investment funds while he was chairman of the board.

Carney's decision to suspend his campaign on Friday was particularly suspect because nothing changed with regard to Trump's imposition of tariffs on Canada last week, as indicated by the fact that, emerging from an all-day meeting with his cabinet committee on Canada-U.S. relations, he had nothing new or of substance to say.

A secret RCMP report is warning the federal government that Canada may descend into civil unrest once citizens realize the hopelessness of their economic situation.

The coming period of recession will ... accelerate the decline in living standards that the younger generations have already witnessed compared to earlier generations," reads the report, entitled Whole-of-Government Five-Year Trends for Canada.

"For example, many Canadians under 35 are unlikely ever to be able to buy a place to live," it adds.

The report, labelled secret, is intended as a piece of "special operational information" to be distributed only within the RCMP and among "decision-makers" in the federal government.

A heavily redacted version was made public as a result of an access to information request filed by Matt Malone, an assistant professor of law at British Columbia's Thompson Rivers University, and an expert in government secrecy.

Describing itself in an introduction as a "scanning exercise," the report is intended to highlight trends in both Canada and abroad "that could have a significant effect on the Canadian government and the RCMP."

Right from the get-go, the report authors warn that whatever Canada's current situation, it "will probably deteriorate further in the next five years."

An analysis last year by University of Calgary economist Trevor Tombe found that if Canada had merely kept pace with U.S. productivity growth for the last five years, Canadian per-capita earnings would be $5,500 higher than they are now.

This wasn't satire—it was calculated sabotage. While accusing Conservatives of importing U.S.-style politics, it's the Liberals who are bringing in the smear tactics straight from the Putin playbook. They were even overheard bragging about the stunt in a pub near Parliament Hill.

Caught red-handed, they offered no apology and no denial—just silence. It's clear the Mark Carney's Liberals aren't running on their record; they're running from it. Canadians deserve better than a government that lies, cheats, and manipulates.

Mark Carney has now admitted that Liberal staffers planted fake "Stop the Steal" buttons at a conservative conference in an attempt to smear the movement. He also apologized saying "This is totally unacceptable to be absolutely clear, I was unaware of this behaviour, but on behalf of my campaign, I apologize for it. I've made it absolutely clear to my campaign that this behaviour, anything approximating it or in that spirit, is unacceptable and cannot happen again." —but instead of firing the operatives, they were simply "reassigned." That's not accountability—that's a cover-up.

If this was a rogue act, why not terminate them? The fact they weren't fired raises serious questions:

Carney's refusal to repeal Bill C-69 contradicts his promise to boost Canadian energy infrastructure. "We do not plan to repeal Bill C-69, to answer your question," he told reporters on April 8.

Often called the "No More Pipelines Bill," the legislation placed severe restrictions on pipeline development in recent years.

Bill C-69 previously established a strict approval process and numerous regulations for the energy industry under the Trudeau government. TC Energy cancelled Energy East in October 2017 after engaging in a burdensome regulatory process.
