If Trump imposes tariffs on Canada, it was Trudeau's choice

Quote from: Reggie Essent on November 30, 2024, 08:12:09 PMI didn't realize our largest National Park was in such dire circumstances.  Now that Park Director Trudeau has gone down to Mar A Lago to bend the knee and kiss The Donald's ring, things should start to shape up.

 :pardon:

It is bad here.

My impression of my government since the 90's is that it is dysfunctional, treasonous, a sell out, a doormat for all other nations, anyone before Americans, hateful of America as founded. As a result of this shit, my logical side agrees with Trump when he talks about how he doesnt blame china for taking advantage of Americas stupidity. My angry side tho hates all these countries, including Cucknadia, who has wiped their asses on Americas willing face. Thankfully, I'm not in Trumps shoes because all you parasites would pay dearly. For starters, EVERY SINGLE MEXCREMENT that came from Cucknadia would be shoved back to you under martial law and threat of open warfare. All others would fuck off to Mexcreco immediately. I would also be drone striking cartels and any mexican officials which interfered with our military entering the country unannounced to fuck up criminal activity.

WW3 and the chanks wouldnt worry me one single bit either.

Both parties in the US did not put the interests of Americans first. And then Donald Trump came along.

Quote from: Reggie Essent on November 30, 2024, 10:20:34 PMI think so many conflicting-interest Parties dilute the vote.  What I mean by cumbersome is all the shifting coalitions that have to be held together in your system.  You mentioned yourself that Justine has only held his ruling coalition together by catering to the extremist Progs.
That aint true. Justine governed with a massive seat majority by winning thirty nine percent of the vote the first time he was elected back in 2015.

Coalition governments are rare in Canada.

It's better just to vote the fuckers out every two and four years. ;)

We don't have fixed election dates federally. Some provinces do though.

Justine has to call an election within five years. But, he can call it anytime within those five years. This is bullshit. A government will call an election when their polling numbers are high or delay it to the very end of five years if their numbers are in the shitter like Justine's are.

A lot of students and temporary foreign workers have visas that will expire in 2025. Many will inevitably try to enter the US. The Trump administration wants Trudeau to do something about that. And they also want something done about the fentanyl that crosses the border between Canada and America.

Trump's fentanyl ultimatum puts Canada's 'super labs' under microscope
A spike in production has likely made Canada a net exporter of fentanyl, a briefing note prepared by Global Affairs Canada earlier this year said.

Public Safety Minister Dominic LeBlanc, who, along with the prime minister, attended Friday's dinner at Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida, told CBC that it was a topic of discussion. "We talked about the challenge that fentanyl represents in Canada,"  he said. Reporting elsewhere about the dinner discussion said Trump made it clear that the fentanyl epidemic is his top priority before he takes office on Jan. 20, including drugs being smuggled from Canada.

Trump's focus on fentanyl smuggling comes at a time when so-called super labs scattered across Canada are turbocharging production of the deadly synthetic opioid. A recent RCMP raid of an Interior British Columbia facility, for example, recovered the equivalent of 95-million doses of fentanyl.

Similarly large-scale operations have recently been uncovered in Alberta and Ontario. One such facility, busted by police last August, was located just 30 miles from the Canada-U.S. border crossing at Niagara Falls.

Alberta Premier Danielle Smith said last week that she and her fellow premiers have urged Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to act quickly on the fentanyl problem.

Trudeau thinks he can pull the wool over Trump's eyes by buying a few drones for the border. Trump wants us taking in fewer refugees, TFW's, and students.

Justine is choosing tariffs over cleaning up our border and immigration mess that would benefit both of our countries.

This editorial is so correct.

QuoteWe're about to get into a trade war with the United States because doing so feeds the Liberals' biases and stokes their political goals. Similarly, they simply cannot give up their enthusiasms for open immigration, rampant spending, soaring growth in the federal civil service, neglect for our military and the carbon tax.

Joly said Canada had done a "huge amount" to stiffen our border security. So far the RCMP have committed two helicopters and two drones to the project. Additionally, as Joly explained, in the fall fiscal update released before Christmas, the Liberals pledged to spend $1.3 billion on added border protection.

This is delusional, but not surprising from a Liberal minister.

The amount promised in the fiscal update is hardly adequate to hire all the new officers, provide all the new equipment and create an acceptable enforcement apparatus for arresting all the smugglers or ensuring that rejected refugee claimants return to their home countries rather than sneaking into the United States.

But even if $1.3 billion were enough, what Joly failed to mention is that sum is spread over six years. Nor is it entirely clear whether it's even all new money. Moreover, even if it is all new money, it is mostly earmarked for Years 3 through 6. Nothing much will be spent this year or next.

The Americans won't be fooled.

Nor does this spending deal with any of the Americans' specific concerns.

For instance, incoming secretary of state Marco Rubio, when he was a senator, worried there would almost certainly be Hamas operatives embedded in the thousands of refugees we are admitting from Gaza without property security screening.

But the Libs can't give up their woke idea that they are saving only innocent Gazans. Nor will they stop admitting refugees because admitting thousands of Gazans wins them tens of thousands of votes in Muslim communities.

So thanks to the Liberals (and Ontario Premier Doug Ford) we are to have a trade fight with the Trump administration because both the Liberals and Ford want a fight for their own political ends, even if that war will cause far more economic pain than neighbourly negotiations.

On the carbon tax, most Liberal cabinet ministers and caucus members now say they want to do away with it, even though they have all enthusiastically (and sanctimoniously) defended the tax for the six years of its existence.

Even radical Environment Minister Steven Guilbeault claims he is willing to entertain an end to the current tax and has endorsed front-runner Mark Carney as the man to devise a new and improved carbon tax.

Carney, the front-runner to replace Trudeau, cannot answer a simple question about whether he would do away with the carbon levy. Rather, on the day last week that he announced his candidacy, Carney promised a tax that would magically raise more money, cut more emissions and attract billions of investment dollars.

And Wednesday in Ottawa, Carney told a reporter he would introduce a new carbon-reduction tax that would decrease the cost of living, reduce emissions, create jobs, increase Canada's international competitiveness and build the strongest economy in the G7.

They're Liberals. They just can't help themselves.
