That is wishful thinking.

Quote from: . on February 23, 2025, 06:54:23 PMIt's already started, the left's support isn't being done any favours with their reaction to DOGE exposing mountains of bureaucratic waste. From the way the left is carrying on, it's like they are saying "America loves having its tax dollars wasted", an asinine message to be pushing as I'm sure you'll agree.

If you are waiting 6-8 weeks, I don't doubt that you'll have substantial achievements to support your assertion. I strongly suspect when Shen Li refers to 2 years, she is speaking to the usual tradition in American politics where at the midterm elections the congress and/or senate sees a groundswell of support for whichever of the two major parties are in opposition, often flipping the balance of power in their favour. This too is a reasonable assumption to make, because I don't think we'll be seeing any such flip this time around. Two years is of course an eternity in any political system, but I get the feeling that the left has lost so much support at this point they will be unable to claim it back and may even be decimated at the midterms in 2026. Likely because DOGE (a department created initially by Obama, not Trump) will still be uncovering fraudulent spending to the delight of the many whose hip pockets have been hurting for so long. And from the look of it, the Democrats will still be too busy doubling down to realise that little support remains for milking the voting public.

So Shen Li is likely correct as well in that the last two years of Trump's presidency are going to be two years of utter pain and confusion for the left and I'm not even sure the manufactured pandemic that Bill Gates is promising will be enough to carry the day either. Because die hards will doubtless be screaming for a return to the lockdowns that torpedoed the last year of Trump's first presidency, only fewer normies will be listening this time.

I will be content for as long as Trump & Company continues to lift the veil on just where all the money is actually going, I shall be delighted if a decent amount of that wastage is turned off at the spigot. Elon Musk certainly has plenty of scalps to offer the American public; at some point the Federal Reserve if going to feel compelled to step in and fuck with Trump to protect its own interests. And I predict there is every likelihood of more assassins bullets for Orangeman to duck. He is simply too dangerous to the establishment for them not to double down on their attempts to thwart him, but so far everything they've tried has only served to increase support for the guy.

There is an ancient curse, often attributed to the Chinese; "may you live in interesting times". These certainly qualify, these next four years will not be a smooth ride, but they will be interesting and dare I say it, "entertaining".

Not 6-8 weeks, 6-8 months.

Progs are denying DOGE found any waste. From $50 million for condoms in Gaza to all the centenarians collecting Social Security, they denying wasteful spending.

Well okay, but my point still stands. This is a progressive improvement on the situation and whether we count it as 6-8 months or 2 years, I expect both you and Shen Li will have plenty to sling your shingles from.

Bear in mind, I am still of the opinion we are headed for a crash. The damage waged in the name of Biden... indeed the policies enacted under multiple administrations all but assures us of it. Take the continuing rise in egg prices as an example; some libtards have been banging on about that in recent weeks, as well as screeching that Trump isnt taking the bird flu outbreak seriously enough for their liking. Now I don't imagine for a moment that he can rein that price in, given the Mao Zedong amount of chickens that were slaughtered in the viral panic that resulted from 68 cases and one death from the H5N1 bug (so far). I'd also posit that it's more than likely more will die as an indirect result of the culling (starvation is a thing). What I can tell you is that Trump's willingness to place a greater emphasis on fossil fuels as an energy source will have a moderating influence on the economic shitshow bequeathed him from the last administration. You might see the Greta von Scumbergs of the world leaping up and down in a frenzy, the fact is that sunny days and unicorn farts arent going to power the farming equipment and certainly not the fleet of trucks required to get what eggs are available to your supermarket shelves.

That's one example - there are other things the current administration is undertaking to soften the effects of the previous four years (never mind the last hundred), but I think you get the point. We are still headed for Pain, but it will be tempered as best as it might be with someone at the helm that actually DID run a business in the private sector instead of some career grifter whose entire working life was spent ripping off the public purse from a position of privilege.

So throw a couple of googy eggs in the skillet - even the pragmatically-minded such as myself have cause to celebrate.

Oh yeah, and it's the same bunch of people crying that Trump has no mandate, in spite of him winning the election, the popular vote and and all that goes with. Which might just include a consevative supermajority in the supreme court if Alito and/or Thomas cash their chips in the next couple of years.

I'm not worried about the denialism, I've been following the indignant and impotent screams out of the left. You and I are more than capable of deciding for ourselves if care packages crammed full of condoms constitutes "wasteful spending", along with detailed instructions of how to sterilize the next generation of little brown people in the name of Malthusian economics, Dollars for Drag Queens, how many more minutes that shrimp is going to keep the treadmill turning and whatever else have you. EVERY government has wastage as part of their remit, government bureaucracies are among the most inefficient methods for getting anything done.

Let them cry it wasn't wasteful, we can circle back to calling what it truly is... namely "fraud". And point out at the same time that it's not at though the US had a monopoly on the fraudulent spending, any more than it had the pretense of it being "democratically derived". I tend to think the cretins will be happy to shift the allegations from "fraud" to "waste" again, but even if they don't and can somehow find a palatable word to describe it, it's still something that needs to be addressed, tightened up, reined in.

DOGE has found and will continue to identify plenty of areas deserving of scrutiny. They will advise the Commander in Chief, he will make his determinations accordingly and more importantly, transparently. At least inasmuch as it can be transparent, which already seems at a level far in excess of what we are used to.

And the uniparty will continue to cry. Fuck 'em.
