Quote from: J E B Stuart on March 26, 2025, 07:00:58 PMMy bad, amigo. It's "Any Which Way You Can".  This is from Wikipedia:

"...You're the Reason God Made Oklahoma" is a song from the film Any Which Way You Can, performed by American country music artists David Frizzell and Shelly West. ..."

Amen.
Every Which Way But Loose was the original and Any Which Way You Can was the sequel.

I have seen both of them. I do not remember that song.

But, it has been a long time since I have seen either movie. So, I will give you the benefit of the doubt. I remember the orangutan and the fights. Not the songs.

John Prine and Iris DeMent - one of my all-time favorite duets. The simple, melodic singing is surpassed only by the lyrics:

Amen.
Deo vindice

J E B Stuart

This song traces back to at least 1850 and the lyrics have evolved, expanded and mutated over the years. Johnny Lee and Lane Brody had a duet hit with it in 1984:

Amen.
Deo vindice

J E B Stuart

This duet is classified as country.  I don't get that pigeonholing of the song into that category, other than Blake being half of the duet. Regardless, it is one of my favorites and that's because it is a great song being sung by two singers at the very top of their game:

Amen.
Deo vindice

J E B Stuart

Just about everything Simon & Garfunkel did was a duet. Hell, that's what duos typically do - duets. They've sold over a hundred million records and this song is but one of many dozens of songs why. I especially love the riff:

Amen.
Deo vindice

This is the kind of English language music Mom likes.

And your mom is Priscilla, yes?

I'll dedicate another song I expect she'll like.

Amen.

Yes, she's my Mom.

This is one of Loggins & Messina's best songs in my opinion, although it wasn't released as a single. This is from their second album released in 1972:

Amen.
Deo vindice

Friend & Loverwas a duo consisting of then husband and wife Jim and Cathy Post. This number went big in 1968, reaching #10 on the charts. In time, it also firmly cemented them a place in music history as a true one-hit wonder:

Is this a Lesser Known Gem J E B Stuart?

I've never heard of the song nor the artists?

I thought about putting them in that thread, formosan. I eventually chose against it, though, because the song was pretty big (#10) for a short while and, hence, so were they. I suppose that the passage of time has rendered it "lesser known", but that happens to many artists and bands.

All that said, I expect most music fans alive in the 60's who are still with us, remember the song well.
