This study may interest those of us with children and those that don't alike.

Research suggests the challenges of parenting may strengthen brain networks and potentially guard against age-related decline.

Parenthood reshapes priorities, schedules, and, indeed, the brain itself. While short-term brain changes in parents are well-documented, it's unclear if they last. Now, a study suggests that parenthood may give you a younger brain due to brain restructuring that safeguards against age-related cognitive decline.

Researchers of the study published in  PNAS found that parents have better brain connections in areas that typically weaken with age. Compared to adults who are not parents, these different parts of their brain work more smoothly together.

"Yes, parenting is stressful and demanding, but it is also the most transformative experience because of the personal growth and changes over a lifetime of raising children and benefiting as a parent," said Lisa Pion Berlin, president and CEO of Parents Anonymous®, a nonprofit that helps parents and communities thrive.

I'm not so sure about that - my brother had five kids but swears he can't remember borrowing that 100 bucks from me last year.

Parenting/child-bearing is probably good for da woman, but maybe not as much for the man, eh F fashionista?

Personally I have no regrets that I didn't have any children.

Too much stress 'n worry.

All my friends who had 'em have health problems, eh?

Ages most people real quick.

Not really Joe, MEN want sons... buddies for life. I watch a guy called Black Pegusus on Youtube... he is a working and performing rapper. HE LOST two children to being still births... one was a son. His wife manage another 2 but they are both girls and he often says he badly wants a son...

Not all people want children...some women find it burdensome and silly others have 10.

I don't know what Joe posted because I have him on ignore. But, whatever he wrote it is bs. His purpose on these forums is to try and get under people's skin by being a pest.

I know, it's hard to believe a seventy year old man would waste his final years this way.

I know his stance on being a parent. He hasn't changed his opinion in as long as I have known him.

He thinks men get trapped into having kids but many men want kids than not.

And some women absolutely do not want kids. Joe probably never met any but I have.

I am OK talking with Joe... at least he talks to me ...no one else does.

The problem starts with the adults who change their minds when things go south with their partner.... then the kids are a problem.

Tell me something, what did your mum and dad do for a job and how many siblings do you have...

And are you a dog or cat person... or both?

What about you Lokmar.

Are your parents alive and what did they do for work?

I am not prying I am just trying to digress to other subjects off politics although politics has been more fun these past two months.

My dad died in the late 90's from hypertrophic cardiomyopathy with arteriosclerosis. He was a mechanic, car salesman, pool hustler, etc. He was very intelligent but not much of a dad or husband. He left my mom when I was about 5 or 6 I think. He slapped her around a fair amount. All his brothers died the same way, late 40's to early 50's.

My mom is still alive. I was down in Florida helping to take care of her after her neck surgery a few months back. She's married to a man that worships the ground she walks on. Really, he's a bit of a doormat. She worked in an office most of her life doing payroll and handling health insurance.

I've got 4 kids. the 2 from my first marriage live in Florida near Orlando and my second 2 are from my second marriage and still live at home, going to college.

I've been blessed to have my second wife who is nothing like my first wife. She's a very calming force in our family and maybe does too much for our kids. She's a great mom. She has a LOT of college education that has helped her land a high paying job which provides us with good health insurance. She's a very sweet person and much better than I ever deserve. I've never yelled at her whereas my ex and I yelled at each other constantly.

I'm told my ex is a much better person now that she's on meds. I still refuse to be around her. I think I might hate her as much today as I did 20 years ago. She always had something to say that would get under my skin. Even picking dinner was a damned fight.
