JOE

...all her posts permeate with bitterness, anger and hate.

My, her stay in Canada must've been a harsh one.

The poor Dear.

Ya'd think she'd been banished to the Gulags in Siberia.

I'm deeply sorry you suffered so severely, avatar_Shen Li Shen.

I hope one day you receive reparations for your suffering.

Actually avatar_Biggie Smiles Bigly, what I think will end up killing a lot of retirements eventually is INFLATION. That's not just Canada or the the USA, but everywhere.

A lot of these retirement plans assume you'll have enough in retirement based on the current as opposed to the future value of your savings and the dollar. But they don't take into account the rapidly depreciating value of the dollar and a coming onslaught of inflation in the future

And like it or not, the world financial system and our retirements currently are pegged to and based upon the value of the US dollar. So if the US dollar goes into the toilet as many expect it to, so will the retirements of many savers. And doesnt matter if it's someone in Norway or the USA. Even Norway has invested much of its retirement savings in the American stock market.

That's why even I've figgered out people need investments that will retain value and keep up with or surpass the rate of inflation eh. Not necessarily stocks denominated in U$ Dollars eh.

Sweetie I find it cute that you have the green-eyed monster living inside you, but some people find it pathetic for such an elderly man.

Ms Li lives in a tropical climate and enjoys lower taxes and likely a higher salary than she would in Canada. She also enjoys superior health care compared to Canada's failing health care system. Then there is the lower crime rate, less poverty and better schools.

If you were thirty five years younger and had some actual marketable skills you would probably join the hundreds of thousands of Canadians who leave Canada for greener pastures every year.

I actually feel her on this one. She was in Canada for a reason and probably desired a comfortable and peaceful life in which to raise a family.

And then leftarded politics and very poor leadership robbed her of that dream. And that sucks.

Im happy for her she got outta there.

Me? Im an American. Even if i had the resources to leave my country, id honestly rather die then do so.

Maybe thats my patriotic brainwashing to view my country as the land of dreams and home of the brave and free....but, my corpse will be rotting in US soil and ill be voting for democrats after my death like every other American.  :thumbup2:

Sweetie, it's the Canadian currency that is expected to lose a lot of it's value.

I know you never worked and saved like normal men do, but investing for the future only goes in one direction in the long term and that is up. You own a piece of a company. And if invest conservatively as most middle class people do, you are investing in legitimate enterprises.

If the US currency slides, it will be due to a global recession and most of the major currencies will track it.

When the world pulls out of recession currencies rise and so do markets as they always have.

Pussycat, I don't expect you to understand this nor should you need to. You get your OAS check and the allowance I give you. You will always have money for chocolate gold coins.

There is no hope in Canada anymore. The Canadian dream has ended. Even a change of government will not make much difference anymore.

Despite all of America's flaws, it offers higher salaries and higher economic growth. At least for now.
