OTTAWA — The union representing postal workers declared Thursday it had triggered a nationwide strike after the federal government announced sweeping changes to Canada Post, including the end of door-to-door delivery.

The Canadian Union of Postal Workers, which has been locked in a months-long labour dispute with Canada Post's management, announced the move hours after Procurement Minister Joël Lightbound unveiled the changes.
