I had a car for a while. Hated it. Loved the road trips, but hated the traffic, road rage, people almost getting me killed even though I was a good driver, maintenance, insurance...

I miss the road trips, but for a single guy living and working in downtown Vancouver it's unnecessary and too costly for me. Obvious Li gave a good example of why city folk should just chillax.

Annie

Nope I can't drive anymore, been a few years, I have a depth perception problem and now cataracts also some other shit like muscles spasms soooo hitting the gas pedal at the right time with a spasm might not be too good lol

It's not even close to being an option for us. Four vehicles at my house including mom's car.

Annie

We just sold our car, but son and his gf have cars so we know we can always call them for rides muahaha

I understand that it's entirely different for a family. Public transit etc. isn't a realistic option in many cases. Too much stuff and too many places to go.

Annie

Exactly Romero, and many people live within a bus route or sky train and if you live right in town almost everything you need to shop for is in walking distance. Not having a car can also be beneficial in health wise, you do more walking :)

I took the LRT when I was in my first year at U of A. I travel all over the place for work. No LRT to the places I have to go to.

It's great to walk and shop in town, and it's great to take a big pickup truck out to the oil patch.

Nothing wrong with that! That's our Canada!

Quote from: "Obvious Li"now I remember why I left this fucking place......I am staying at my daughters house in maple ridge....the plan was to meet my son at 9:00 at River Rock casino in Richmond to play some poker......so I thought I would leave at 7:30 AM...to allow plenty of time for a leisurely drive avec coffees.......I arrived at the casino at 11:15....three hours and forty five minutes to go from Maple Ridge to Richmond...raining like a bitch....nine car pile up on the merry hill bypass...one lane open to feed six lanes of traffic through during rush hour.......two six car pile ups on the queensborough bridge.......marine drive a crawl for miles and miles.......bloody hell.......the human system cannot process this kind of shit....road rage results from this every day assault on the nerves....someone needs to die

A lot different from having to pass a tractor on a lonely Dog River dirt road, eh? I figured you would enjoy all those cars on the road guzzling gas. Cyclists and bus riders are losers!

Anyway, I hope you enjoy your time here! Get out and see some left wet west coast nature!

thanks homy....I am enjoying the green grass for sure......on the commute yesterday, I also happened to tap some overweight 20 something east indian chick from behind while I was stuck in traffic texting.......she cut in front of me ???....she got out of her car holding her neck and limping....she wanted to exchange info but there was no damage so I said no need for that and I wasn't going to stand out in the fucking rain like an idiot for nothing....she got a bit huffy and we had words (shall we say)...I felt a little better after that....she got my plate number but BFD

3 hours?!  ROFL!

This rain has been rude.  I walked two blocks today and even my underwear was soaked.  Stupid Vancouver rain.

You in Maple Ridge proper or out in the boonies?

In my journey's last volume, I drove a great deal and enjoyed it very much. I am an excellent driver, careful, never resorted to road rage. I enjoyed immensely the many road trips around this great land. There were road trips to visit family and friends, hockey tournaments, skills training and development camps. In this new volume's refashioning, I am in a planned community where I do all my shopping and business so I do walk more and I like the reliability of the public transit systems. No more car for me but will rent one when a need arises.

Yes, Fash. I suppose you can call it that too. We call it planned community here.
