Flounder and black eyed peas with jalapeno hush puppies.
I've learned that if someone asks you a really stupid question and you reply by telling them what time it is, they'll leave you alone

QuoteA hushpuppy is a small, savory, deep-fried round ball made from cornmeal-based batter. Hushpuppies are frequently served as a side dish with seafood and other deep-fried foods.

They're like a substitute for french fries..

I can't remember if we had them in the USA or not.

I hadnt thought of having black eyed peas with flounder, normally I do creamed corn. But that meal sounds delicious!!!
I've come here to chew bubble gum, and kick ass. And I'm all out of bubblegum.

No, french fries usually come with a meal too lol. Hush puppies are more so a substitute for biscuits/bread.

It was good. I cut the hush puppies in half and put them in the bowl and then covered them with the peas. Didn't really need the flounder but it did pair well with them. Nothing quite like beans/peas and corn bread. A staple in my house growing up. Since the wife is pretty much from the country it has continued being a staple. Good cheap meal. Love pinto beans, and navy beans and ham is really good too. We also get fresh, not dried, pinto and speckled butter beans from a local farm. Good stuff.

Same here on the beans lol. Im the only one that eats black eyed peas though. Ham beans with cornbread is a meal in itself. Another meal I dont make as often since Im the only one that eats it. Oh man, I've never had fresh pintos! I hated butter beans as a kid lol.

I don't care for butter beans either but the speckled ones are very similar in taste to pinto's.
