Bah Humbug.
Our Thanksgiving is the second Monday in October. The unofficial kickoff to the Christmas season is November 12. The day after Rememberance Day.

On the personal individual level, I've no problem with that.

It's when they start inflicting it on all of us that I wanna go full Scrooge.

Thanks for reminding me... I usually have some XMas cards printed and sent to me by Vistaprint and I've already knocked together a design but haven't ordered them yet. I should probably get on that.

When I was a kid we weren't allowed to have anything to do with Christmas until "Christmas Season" arrived. We couldn't talk about what we wanted for Christmas, couldn't put up a tree or lights or say Ho Ho Ho or anything. It was only on Thanksgiving Day when we would watch the Macy's parade and see Santa Claus at the very end waving to the crowd, THAT was when Christmas Season arrived and not one second beforehand.

Didn't understand it as a kid but boy I sure do now.

We celebrated Christmas on December 25, but the big one was Orthodox Christmas two weeks after that. I can't remember when it felt like Christmas. I guess after ma put up the tree.

As I understand it Oliver, Thanksgiving is the start of the American Christmas season.

For the people, yes. For television commercials it's more like Labor Day.
