Living in an area frequently hit with Hurricanes and even tornadoes I've always had to keep an eye out for preparedness

but I'm telling you people, it's on a whole new level after the government sponsored event I attended

Trust me on this one. I'm not one easily moved or swayed by conspiracies of any kind and I am least likely to trust to the government. But when you have some pretty high ranking people looking like the boogie man just slapped them around on a zoom call it's time to take a deeper look.

And when they disclosed how fragile our grid really is I was floored.

Overthinking is part of my core function in what I do for a living. Preparing for the worst case scenario of a disaster and cybersecurity

so I probably just cant help myself

I even have spare parts for my generators and replaceable parts for my car and truck. My well pump pressure switch can go bad 9 times during the apocalypse and I still wont have to show up to a hardware store to buy another -- kinda helps that I get them for free though 

my deep analytical & meticulous thought process comes from being a virgo I guess -- I try to leave nothing to chance. From a years supply of the spices I cook with to old school DVD players that still connect with those audio video cable thinggies

Must be a theme... I'm LEAN/AGILE oriented. Plan Do Check Act... it's a way of life.

Seriously though. We're all fucked.

Actually, to be honest, I'm doing what I'm doing what I'm doing for my kids. I've lived my life. And it's been a good enough run... with it's fare share of ups and downs of course, like anyone. But  I could die tomorrow -- no regrets  I'm on the downward trajectory anyway

But my kids aren't and if they manage to survive I'll have done my duty. And I'm ok with that.

I plan to hold on far beyond any cancers that are already incubating in my breaking down but still youthful acting, looking, and feeling corpse. If I make 20 years more I'll celebrate. If I make 30, I'll start worrying....

It's all for the kids though. They need their parents around but not forever. My dad went in 2005 in his late 50's. That's just around the corner for me.
