Quote from: Frood on March 18, 2026, 11:14:11 PMYou're part of the reason why humanity is fucked. So jaded.... so self righteous...so ignorant....so clearly hateful. :(

I do have a lot of hate. Guilty as fuckin charged. Because I see the world for exactly what it is. A floating bag of shit. So don't think for one second you'll ever get me to weep because the US is doing something immoral if such an action ensures my way of life. If the US doesn't someone else will and that someone else may not be as benevolent towards my personal interests as the US has been

so it's one of those "devil you know" kind of things.

I'm selfish as fuck in that regard and damn proud of it.

Quote from: Frood on March 18, 2026, 11:12:00 PMWW2 was already ending. Nagasaki and Hiroshima were live human radiation trials.

Maybe. But we made sure of it.

I disagree with the second part. We already had a lot of knowledge on how radiation works. I cant imagine THAT being how we do trials....there are mucb easier and less costly ways even back then.
My happiness is all of your misery. I put good dick all in my kidneys.

Quote from: Frood on March 18, 2026, 11:10:15 PMMy one grandpa was a POW in the Philippines... he barely survived and was never the same again. My other was trained as a B17 pilot but didn't see action because the war ended before he needed to be deployed.

So what?

The time to stand up to unethical or immoral actions is always in the now....and you supposed Christians are doing a bang up job making yourselves into hypocrites on that score.

There's a high probability I never would have been born had those bombs not fallen.  I'm supposed to cry and make paper cranes because some Nip cities got baked, saving the lives of tens of thousands of American boys?

Sorry, not sorry.

Quote from: Dove on March 18, 2026, 11:16:06 PMPublic schools only offer so much. I went to private and I didn't get much better.

My grandmother supplemented my education at home. I was reading classic literature and learning about history at home as well as the bare boned history in school.

I also supplemented my own kids education. I mean I still do with my youngest. Her summer reading will be deep.

What would be helpful would be government and civics classes taught as part of a regular curriculum. How can our history be properly understood when these kids aren't being taught even how the US government works? What we are and why we are specail?

We have had a steady stream of anti America bullshit crammed down our throats for decades and I cant help but feel like its intentional people grow up not knowing these things.

I'd like to see that changed. Before the country ends up utterly destroyed.

So you don't actually understand American history... check. It's got some great moments but far more warts and pustules.

Point out where else atomic based city bomb/mass incineration/radiation poisoning trials were going on before or after...

My dad was in the first patrol that went into Nagasaki. He used to tell the story of walking across a big square of what he thought was white gravel, but it turned out to be the cremated and crunchy bones of dead burnt Japs.

Do you think he would have made it to Nagasaki if we had to invade?

The war wasn't over when the decision was made to drop the bombs.

Right... immorality is okay if you get the momentary win... cool. You don't by chance also hold an Israeli passport?

So the history of the Samurai was all doctored to prop up our desire to test radiation on humans?

I don't buy that

if you read up on the Samurai their code of the bushido was literally the driving force behind THOUSANDS of them jumping to their own deaths on the islands of Okinawa. It was the driving force behind the Kamikaze -- navy fleet commanders locking themselves in their chambers as their vessels sank etc etc

was all of that doctored too? For what end? To prop up a lie because we needed human trials on radiation? c'mon man, you're smarter than that.

The Japanese, through their actions, gave every indication that they would fight hand to hand until every last man and woman were dead. We did not want to stomach the loses and therefore allowed THEM to choose 350,000 thousand of their own instead of millions of our boys AND theirs.

it was a tough choice but in retrospect was the right one.

Unless of course, you have compelling proof that the Emperor of Japan was willing to shit all over the very same doctrine that made him a "living God" just to surrender the entire country in shame.

No - I don't hold an Israeli passport

and to be clear. I don't give a shit about them either. I just dont condemn their acts of retaliation the way the other lemmings do.

They can do whatever it is they need to do to secure their own preservation. I don't judge. I don't weep for either side. All I care about are Americans. Period

Okay hear me out.

I have a position in which i assert that voting age citizens need to demonstrate they understand what kind of country the United States is, how our government works to serve US, what the purpose of government is, what the branches and separation of powers is for, AND what policies are being voted on and passed and what they do.

As far as history, I dont see how anyone who is uneducated on the US government could possibly fully understand our history and the contexts and nuances in it. But im not talking about understanding history. Im talking about understanding the US government.

I do hold that a proper understanding of the government gives a proper understanding of history. That and understanding the times historic events took place in. They go together, sure. But you can still understand the purpose and function of government whether you take a public school history courses or not.

My dad was born in June 1945 roughly 9 months after my grandfather was eventually rescued in a Japanese POW camp. I wouldn't exist if anything happened differently.

The war was over. Your public school text books led you down the garden path...  same as the US Civil War reasons, and pretty much everything after the 1820's/1830's.

The time to speak out at wrongdoing is in the here and now, or our lineage will be force fed horse shit. You want to be a patriotic American? Start doing it by calling out power and lies.

We simply dont need to bomb humans to know how radiation will impact them. We have seen heavy radiation poisoning. We had live examples.

We have cells that have been exposed in controlled setting. We also use bodies donated to science for weird military shit.

Im not saying the US has never acted unethically, im just saying I disagree that the bombs dropped on Japan were any sort of trial. I know people who were in that war agreed those bombs ended it.

What is your position on the prolific explosion of Executive Orders used for well over half a century which have circumvented 2 branches of government?

Sorry, not sorry.

Nor should you be.

Do you think those japs in Nagasaki and Hiroshima were crying for the young American sailors, many of whom remain entombed in the Arizona to this very day, when their radios broadcasted a "great victory for the Japanese Empire"?

no.. they danced in the streets just like those cockroaches did in Gaza on 911 2001.

Did any of them cry as their barbaric soldiers, many of of whom were total fucking perverts, raped and pillaged their way through Chinese farmlands in a quest for natural resource and land mass?

no.. they hailed these conquests as great victories in the advancement of their empire

But all of the sudden we're supposed to get all teary eyed when Karma came to bit them in the ass in the form of two very bright displays of American might.

not me man.
