And maybe someone could ask "But, what was the context?" Maybe she said that to make some sort of point?

They were discussing the US designating Brazil's main crime factions as terror groups and they started talking about the cocaine boats being blown up

And she simply said that, if cocaine was already getting expensive, now it's gonna get worse. Like she was talking about the price of groceries or gas. And she's known for speaking in favor of leniency with crime

They have aligned themselves completely with the crime factions, they're not even trying to hide it anymore.

Brazil heard a statement that will hardly go unnoticed.

Commenting on the United States' decision to classify the PCC and Comando Vermelho as terrorist organizations, President Lula expressed irritation and stated that he was sad because American authorities said that "our criminals are terrorists". The phrase dropped like a bomb. Not because there is any doubt about national sovereignty or about Brazil's right to conduct its own security policy. That debate is legitimate. The problem is another.

The average citizen doesn't look at PCC and Comando Vermelho and see "our criminals". Brazilians see murderers. See drug dealers. It sees factions terrorizing entire neighborhoods, imposing curfews, recruiting young people for crime, executing rivals, attacking police officers, and turning entire communities into hostages of fear.

These are organizations that spread violence throughout prisons, cities, borders and international drug trafficking routes.

Therefore, when a president uses the term "our criminals", even in another context, popular reaction is inevitable. Because these criminals do not belong to the people. They don't represent Brazil. They don't speak on behalf of the honest families who buried their children who were victims of violence. They do not speak on behalf of police officers killed on duty. They do not speak on behalf of the residents of peripheries dominated by the terror of factions. They belong only to the world of crime.

National outrage should be directed against those who hijackass the peace of the population and turn communities into zones of permanent fear. No good Brazilian considers PCC or Comando Vermelho to be "ours". They are enemies of society. They are enemies of families. They are enemies of public order. And the more power they accumulate, the more suffering they produce.

What the people expect from their rulers is not just any gesture that might sound like verbal complacency with criminal factions. The people expect firmness. Expect confrontation. Expect the primary concern to always be on the side of the victims — never on the side of those spreading terror. Because criminals have owners. And these owners are the criminal organizations themselves. The Brazilian people do not.

If the fight against organized crime requires unprecedented international cooperation, let it happen. What the Brazilian people no longer accept is watching the advance of criminal factions while authorities seem more concerned with how they are classified than with the trail of destruction they leave across the country.

Things are developing...

Jason Miller, advisor and ally of US President Donald Trump, used social media this Saturday (30) to react to statements by PT member Lula about the recent decision by the US government to classify the Primeiro Comando da Capital (PCC) and Comando Vermelho (CV) as terrorist organizations.

The demonstration took place a day after Lula commented on the measure adopted by the United States. In his post, Miller mocked the Brazilian president's stance and wrote that he should "cry more."

In addition to the phrase, the Trump ally added the expression "womp womp", quite popular in digital environments. The term is often used sarcastically to minimize complaints or demonstrate indifference to someone's dissatisfaction.

The expression refers to a sound effect similar to that of a trombone playing a sad melody.
