Most of my friends online are Canadian, but I'm open to anyone who wants to be :)

If I show Leo's rant on Americans to my American friends, it will be met with hearty laughter. We can't all please everybody.

WTF?

I haven't RANTED on anyone!!!

I am TRYING to separate The Blue Cashew from a nationalistic forum that focusses on one country's to's and fro's to a more globally inclusive dialogue.

Am I speaking in tongues or something? I thought it was pretty clear.

It is NOT anti-Canadian. It is NOT anti-American. It is expanding your thinking and observations to encompass the world at large.

I'm somewhat perplexed as to why this is so hard. Our canucks may be intrigued by the events occurring in a corner grocer store in downtown Newfoundland, but the rest of us are not interested. Even less so in your domestic politics.

If you wish to maintain a Canadian-centric flavour, by all means do so...but it will cost you the opportunity to draw new members. It may even cost you existing ones.

I am NOT advocating ignoring Canadian circumstances. I am saying if they are NOT relevant to the world at large, then I can direct you to a forum that deals with Canada specifically.

Now, if that sets me at odds with this forum's raison d'etre, I apologise. Do as you wish...but at least grant me the courtesy of reading my text in the context of moving forward, not stifling discussion on some person called "Harper".

Romero

I'm pretty sure everyone here is just discussing whatever they wish. It's not like any of us are trying to make this forum Canadian-centric. Most of us are Canadian, so it's no surprise there will be talk about Canadian issues. It's demographics. If I visited any Australian forum, I would certainly expect to see a lot of talk about Australian issues.

It's just demographics. No one here is trying to stifle any discussion. You're more than welcome to bring up and talk about anything!

Leopardsocks

I know that, Romes...its all good.

I know you're NOT wilfully making it Canada-centric, but given the heritage and origins, there is a tendency to slip into that mode, and all I'm saying is remember there's a whole world out there.

Geesh...I WAS trying to be helpful. There is no need to be defensive.

I wasn't being defensive! I'm just saying you can talk about anything you want any time!

So I take it you're not going to enter your favourite NHL playoff team in this year's Blue Cashew Playoff Challenge?

Your point is well taken, Leo. I'll try to spice the local stuff up so it's not so boring. I'm also interested in what's goes on in your neck of the woods, so feel free to talk Aussie politics if you want.

Quote from: "Lucky Number 8"I will add, that Japanese women are so very well cultured...  Men too!  They don't spit on the sidewalk.

Japan has other problems that are not out in the open. I think the biggest domestic sex industry in the world. Some of whom are underage.

Underage is right up Mel's ally. Once a women grows up and develops an opinion he's SOL. ac_toofunny

Something tells me a 10 year old would be able to develope and opinion about Mel.  ac_biggrin

Mel - you don't know anything about japan.

Men pee out in the open on walls - just because they can.  The yakuza brats run everything - and they're crass and disgusting.

What's so civilized about that?  Oh, they're not spitting - whoop dee doo.

Hello asal, you are very right..

Japan has unflattering behaviours too just like any other place.

Japanese women are pretty, and honourable!

I don't even know what those words mean???

National Health Legion? Play off the side of a cliff? Playoff Challenge???

SEE WHAT I MEAN!!!!

I KNOW we can talk about anything!!!

But focussing on issues specific to Canada, particularly esoteric issues, is not in the best interests of THIS community.

The Blue Cashew Playoff Challenge is the Blue Cashew's biggest event of the year. It has a long history, going all the way back to yesterday morning. Your loss! You'll be begging me to join in next year.

I started a thread about holographic protesters in Spain and you probably haven't even looked at it! Friggin' holographic protesters in Spain, Leo!

I love seeing Lord Stanley's statue when I go through Stanley Park. The Canucks don't have a Cup, but Vancouver still has Lord Stanley and his awesome park! Not a bad trade-off... for now!

Ha ha, I found this when I did an image search:
