Many stories I read in the library when I was a child were about pirates and buccaneers. Red Beard (Frederick Barbarossa - barbe rousse) and Black Beard (Edward Teach) were my favorite bearded pirates. Bartholomew 'Black Bart' Roberts and a woman pirate disguised as a man named Anne Bonny (I don't know if she wore a beard) and William Kidd were also my favorites.

The Oak Island money pit in Nova Scotia has been the site of excavations by treasure hunters for the last 200 years and six treasure hunters have died trying to recover the treasure. Millions of dollars have been spent by many investors but the treasure is not recovered. It is believed Black Beard put the treasure there but he was captured and executed before the treasure was ever found.

I did not know about this holiday in Canada. I searched the meaning of this holiday and I do not understand the language of pirates. I could not talk like a pirate because my English language is not so well either. It is a very interesting thing to do for fun but I do not do speak it or observe this pirate holiday.

It would be exciting. Combines the thrill of deep sea diving with a treasure hunt.

My husband would has talked about buying a claim and going to the Yukon to pan for gold. No illusions of getting rich, just doing it for kicks.
