I swear I'm going to puke by the end of this thread.

Quote from: "RW"So I went to McDonalds for a smoothie tonight and I saw the McLobster.  I gagged and gagged.  I gagged like 12 times just from seeing the picture.  I just gagged writing this.

WTF is wrong with this world?!

I went down ta Macdonalds and tried McLobster.

Here's my take:

Pluses

- appears to use real lobster, which is a healthy departure from their traditionally greasy, cholesterol filling food.

- No grease

- Lots of lettuce

Minuses:

- too much drippy creamy sauce

- no tomato

- soggy bun which tasted like a doughnut rather than bread. Wrong bread. Toasted rye or ciabatta a better choice

- smoking the lobster would be a good idea.

- sauce needs work, tasted flat

- you really need to season it to give it more flavor.

Otherwise a good start, but next time I will buy a separate bun, toast it, add some

Ayoinaise and seasoning to bering out the flavor. And oh yeah, smoke or fry the lobster in olive oil to give it more flavor, along with the tomato.

Not a bad start, but could be better.

Thanks for the suggestion, 'Real!

Well, I'll give it a whirl one more time before they take it off the market, but next time I'll try ta make the 'perfect' Lobster Sandwich.

Toasted, Roasted to perfection with all the seasonings and vegetables added.

MacDonald's has a good idea, but it has to be developed further.

And then it could be really good.

Lobster is a luxurious seafood, and was intended to be prepared as such.

Macdonald's is taking what is essentially a 'caviar' type seafood and slopping it onto a fast food bun.

But they haven't got it quite right...yet. It could be excellent, but it's not quite there yet.

Whatever I said about being willing to try a mclobster... I don't want to waste a meal on it when I could eat something good. :nea:
