A bit slow there, Bob...we've been banging on about this in another thread all week.

In summary, American's do not care how many die as long as they can hold a smooth, sleek, powerful weapon in their own hands, in case of civil war or Government coup.

Personally, I think it just makes them feel brave and tough...

The US is not even close to be in the top 10 for murder rates.

What's your point? There are many countries with far more murders...even on their own border.

But NONE of them are first world, cauacasian, Western democratic nations who profess to be the Greatest Nation On Earth.

A proper comparison is murder rates compared to developed, industrialised nations such as in Europe, Asia and the Pacific.

mong nations assessed by the Paris-based club of market economies, only Brazil, Estonia, Mexico and Russia had higher murder rates.

However, when looking only at the rate of people assaulted or mugged, the United States had a lower rate than any country except Canada and Japan, according to the same OECD index.

Oh, that's OK then. Let the status quo remain...30,000 more corpses next year. Its a good time for undertakers.

Making them illegal won't solve gun violance. It would probably spike it. Maybe if most of our "entertainment" wasn't glorifying violance, sex and drugs we would see less. It's a people problem.

Isn't the American murder rate dropping and has been for a long time now?

Bricktop

Death rate still at 30,000 or thereabouts.

I marvel at the logic that making guns illegal won't stop gun violence. That is like saying confiscating cars won't stop people driving.

American's want gun ownership because it makes them feel empowered and strong, and they use silly excuses like "gangsters got guns" to reinforce the need.
