Canada's COVID-19 pandemic recovery is running on fumes according to the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).



The intergovernmental group's Composite Leading Indicators suggest that recovery is set to slow down for Canada and a number of other countries including Germany, Italy and the UK.



"Among major OECD economies, a drop in momentum is visible in the latest CLIs for Canada, Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom," the OECD said.



The indicators forecast economic performance over a period of six to nine months. They take into account numerous variables including order books, building permits issued, new car registration, interest rates and economic confidence.

FIRST READING: Canada is reportedly China's least favourite country



A recent survey making the rounds online purports to show that Canada has just become China's least favourite country . Global Times – the English-language mouthpiece of the Chinese Communist Party – recently published a survey by its own in-house research centre showing that Canada now ranked last among Chinese peoples' favourite countries. "Only 0.4 percent of respondents (said) they like the country," it reported. The favourite country? Singapore.



Meanwhile, Canadians' feelings on the People's Republic of China are mutual. A recent Research Co. poll found that 68 per cent of Canadian hold an unfavourable view of China, and that more than two thirds are actively trying to avoid "Made in China" products. In October, a Nanos poll found that 87 per cent of Canadians favoured joining with the U.S. (or anyone else) to "contain China's growing power."

Apple, Samsung, LG, and Addidas are all moving most of their production out of China over the next five years citing supply chain problems within that country. Production will move to countries like Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand and India.
