What is the world coming to?

If you don't live in the United States and never will, then why would you care about their domestic laws?

Bricktop

*sigh*...why do I bother...

How MANY times must I say this???

The US does NOT constrain its lunacy within its own borders!! It exports them. It disperses its idiocy around the globe in a diverse range of forms.

Despite it being the national equivalent, both intellectually and superficially, of Hulk Hogan, it heavily influences young minds the world over. Illicit guns in other western countries are more likely to made in the USA.

Furthermore, you're talking about a country that has invaded other countries simply because they operate under a different political system. Its a country that assassinates people in other, sovereign, nations.

And it believes its RIGHT!!!

The rest of the world has a right to say "No!!! You're fucking it up for all of us."

So, the country makes guns like many other countries do? Oh and you don't like it's shows? Don't buy, don't watch and most importantly don't go. Most shows these days world wide are crap. I find other things to occupy my entertainment time. You should too if it bothers you.

Bricktop

Unlike you, I do not address problems in the world by turning my back on them, obviously.

I take it you don't have children, or grandchildren?

I have a grown son my friend.

I do not turn my back on big problems, but the domestic crime problems of the Unites States do not affect me or you at all. I have no dog in that fight. I have worked in the same industry since I was 18. I have worked in every part of the world. If I made it my mission to be so upset over each one's internal problems I would never be able to get a moment's peace. Most of the problems I have seen made internal American problems look like a weekend game of golf.

Bricktop

My point is that America's "problems" are NOT internal.

And if you are not concerned about other so called internal problems such as ISIS, the war in Syria, the collapse of government in Libya, the seize of the Crimea and NK shelling SK, you should be.

Each and every one of those has the potential to impact your life, even in the safe haven of Canada.

God bless those noble Australians and Americans who are standing up to the Stasi police in each country with orders from their fascist overlords. Obviously, it's from both ends of the candle but Australians shouldn't fault Americans for vehemently insisting that their ability to physically revolt remains sacred according to its fundamental laws based on timeless historical facts of humanity and nor should Americans be scornful of we noble Aussies who've never said no to our government bar that one small massacre at Eureka where we threw our rudimentary weapons down like little schoolgirl bitches and which gave birth to our socialistic world stage strut. We strike! We surround a train station building without swiping our public transit RFID passes with ID intel behind them at the turnstile.

Of course, the Americans are a ridiculous lot. They simply do not know how to bang pots and pans like we do. They haven't the foggiest on how to prelube their assholes while bending and spreading like we do.

We take our slavery out onto the sporting field with every Footy, Rugby, or Football match and we revel in the victories but mostly the losses then we hunker down and dream of the next season or competition.

Australia needed stooge control long before gun control ever might have become an issue.

(And it looks like America has a greater need for stooge control these days as well.   )

Yes, those hot spots around the world are potential flash points. Now what? And besides, what do those places have to do with America's internal politics?

Papers please?

Actually, you need to be more precise.

That is a VICTORIAN operation. I'm not aware of any reason Victorians should feel more inclined to check the bona fides of people merely going about their business, but they also voted in Kennett, so they appear capable of any act of social stupidity.

As to your cynicism, please be aware that I've never held Australia up as a model to follow. Nor would I, as long as we labour under a similar defunct, corrupt and outdated mode of governing as the US and elsewhere.

Bear in mind, as you indulge in your silly cynicism, that our governments, as dysfunctional as they are, are far more sensitive to the clamour and cacophony of banging kitchenware than most others. As evidenced by the fact that operation "Papers, Please" was abandoned after the noise of impacting metalware drowned out the feeble excuses your premier proffered.

The ABF or Australian Border Force ( ac_toofunny ) since only July of this year is a Federal Agency formerly between two agencies (ACBPS and the DIBP). It's not just the Victorian premier, it's our beloved PM taking flak for it. Their first major faux Department of Homeland Security (Aussie Thong and Singlet Wearing Gangnam Style) operation fell the fuck apart. That it happened to occur in Melbourne is incidental and relative to the greater populations within the more Eastern states such as Victoria and NSW. They never would have trialed it in the only Australian graveyard with streetlights for obvious reasons. Sorry, mate. You're proof Tasmanians can swim, after all.

Is that precise enough for you and do you hope to lose the TBC punters in your silly little State differentiation attempts ac_biggrin ?

The US lost its shit and started breaking its own rules with the creation of the DHS after 2001. Australia has been enviously waiting for its time to do the same since. They've brought in transit police a few years ago (TPS, for the North Americans) in order to harangue public transit users and the police forces are insisting on drone funding for "search and rescue", bushfire prevention, and other humanitarian falsehoods they really don't give a full shit about. The uniforms and sidearms are even increasingly becoming police state. The one thing which hasn't changed in decades is the propensity of Australian domestic security forces to fatally shoot a despondent teenager with a knife or hammer and encircled at 5-10 meters away (because talking down someone is weakness).

Let's dispense with the facade and call it all for what it is. Australian authorities yearn for the same tyrannical power which the US has so effortlessly exploited for its own gain after 9/11.

That turnstile protests shut them down now is no major feat, nor is the fact that Australia is not a Republic, like the US, but is run by the Westminster system rather than the Presidential system, and no guarantees of civil liberty will ever exist because quasi elected officials in a mandatory voting system are under no obligation to consider their minority constituents or revisit the Magna Carta.

Plenty of opportunity for grandstanding though, like Andrew Wilkie MP.

Quote "Joseph Stalin would be proud of Tony Abbott. Just as East Germany's Stasi would be delighted with the Australian Border Force. Why even General Pinochet would be impressed," he said.

Notice he didn't mention his FVEY knowledge or affiliations (Five Eyes). He also didn't mention the rest of the Western world behaving just like Stalin and just like the US's darling boy, Pinochet (until they abandoned him like Saddam, Qaddafi, and the rest). But you continue to toy with the North Americans on this topic. It must be empowering to you to talk so much shit and get so little back in knowledgeable substance (kind of like shooting a teenager with a poorly brandished pocket knife, eh?)  ac_toofunny

I'm sorry.

Did I speak too much English for you.

That operation was targeted in VICTORIA, and sanctioned BY the Victorian government.

It was not an AUSTRALIAN operation, or it would have been undertaken in AUSTRALIA, which includes all the States that Victoria isn't.

The agency involved is Federal...because its BORDER protection. Thanks for the tip, Captain Obvious.

If Tasmanians are the shit people make them out to be, doesn't that make Victoria the arsehole of Australia?
