Awesome shots VancouverGuy !  what kind of camera did you use ?  I'm planning to buy a new camera, I want a camera that can capture lights vividly just like yours. Would you please give me advise on what kind of camera I should buy ? something not too expensive..

I don't mean to pry Pinay, but did you have a budget in mind?

I would say around $400 CAD to $500 CAD..

I'm using the Olympus E-PM2. The E-PM1 is around $300. There's also Canon G15 for $499, which is a better choice if you're not going to buy any lens in the future.

cool ! thanks VancouverGuy  :)  it looks like the Canon G15 is a good option. One more question.. is the Canon G15 good for taking pictures at night, fireworks and wide angle shots ? I like taking pictures but I'm a novice in photography. I have a Canon Power Shot SD780 IS, it's good for taking photos at daytime but not much for night time.

Vancouver

For low light it'll be better than the SD780 by a little. Maybe look at the Canon S110 too, it's smaller.

The Nikon D3100 DSLR is on sale here at Futureshop in Canada. Not sure where you're from. DSLR is big and heavy though. It's better for low light than tiny cameras. http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/product/nikon-nikon-d3100-14-0mp-dslr-camera-with-af-s-dx-nikkor-18-55mm-vr-lens-kit-d3100/10153746.aspx?path=b325173e948c385c6aa06167b9f2ba8aen02">http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/product/ ... f2ba8aen02">http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/product/nikon-nikon-d3100-14-0mp-dslr-camera-with-af-s-dx-nikkor-18-55mm-vr-lens-kit-d3100/10153746.aspx?path=b325173e948c385c6aa06167b9f2ba8aen02

Blurry photos at low light is cause of slow shutterspeed. The shutter needs to stay opened longer to capture more light. In order to achieve a more fast shutterspeed under low light, you'll need a camera or lens that have a low f number(such as f1.8 or f2.0).

Noisy photos taken in low light is cause of high ISO. Higher ISO gets you faster shutterspeed, but higher means it'll have more noise. Cameras with bigger sensors(such as DSLRs) will have less noise at high ISO. DSLR with a fast lens such as 50mm f1.8 will be very good for low light.

A camera like Canon S110 can still get some fairly sharp photos under low light. At really low light it'll still be somewhat blurry. Also don't zoom in under dim lighting environment. The lens is slower when it's zoomed.
