Sir Clive Sinclair, who popularised the home computer and invented the pocket calculator, has died aged 81.
His daughter Belinda Sinclair told The Guardian that her father died at his London home on Thursday morning.
Ms Sinclair told the BBC that her father had cancer for more than a decade and was still working on inventions up until last week "because that was what he loved doing".
She added: "He was inventive and imaginative and for him it was exciting and an adventure, it was his passion."
Sir Clive launched the first affordable consumer computer in 1980, costing less than £100.
The multimillionaire entrepreneur's company launched the ZX models in a decade where personal computer use boomed.
Sinclair became the first company in the world to sell more than a million computers, making Sir Clive's surname a household name.

We keep meeting at funerals Oliver.
It's always in the back of my mind that one day the funeral will be mine... it's going to happen and there's nothing I can do about it... so while I'm here I may as well spend every moment being amazed at everything around me... the trees, the animals, the people, the cities, the planet, the stars and the universe which extends forever and possibly more... and how it all came to exist from nothing more than dust floating around in space... and how small our time is here compared to the eons... and how maybe, just maybe, before my time comes to an end I could make a mark on the world as these people have.
There I go again, couple of bong hits and I start rambling on...

Peter Scolari, a veteran actor who rose to fame alongside Tom Hanks on "Bosom Buddies," died Friday morning.
Scolari had cancer and had been ill for two years, his manager Ellen Lubin Sanitsky told CNN. He was 66.
Scolari appeared in numerous films and television series over the years, including "Newhart," "Murphy Brown," and "The Good Fight." He won an Emmy in 2016 for his portrayal of Hannah's father on "Girls."
