Yet I am not seeing you complaining against said discrimination...

RW

I will in the International Men's Day thread.  Remind me when I mention it to call men a bunch of agenda driven whiners and complainers and state they aren't as competent when it comes to nursing, child care and secretarial work.  I'll pat you on the head and let you know that you'll eventually get there.  You know, to make this debate "equal".
Beware of Gaslighters!

I look forward.

And you know there will never be a day men aren't discriminated against...but don't stop trying...

Sucks to know what it feels like eh?

There you go again...assuming chauvanistically that men have no idea what being discriminated against feels like, more specifically white anglo saxon men.

Men are constantly discriminated against in modern society, on the premise that it is deserved; put another way, the discrimination is justified.

NO discrimination based on stereotype is justified.

How many movie villains are males, as opposed to females?

How often are males portrayed as bumbling buffoons, especially juxtaposed alongside a savvy, wise and always correct female?

How many males are the victims of violence, compared to females (including so-called 'domestic' violence)?

How many men have been ignored or overlooked on the basis of "affirmative action", one of the most flawed social policies yet devised?

The discrimination against women, as I have stated, arose from the social, cultural and environmental imperatives of history; it was not programmed or deliberate...it simply evolved. That does not make it right, but it does mitigate against the proposal that men have deliberately set out to demean females.

But now we experience deliberate, purposeful and malignant discrimination. That is not something women have suffered. Men are villified, insulted, demeaned and abused on a regular basis due to stereotyping, and it has to stop.

And if that means standing up to "feminism" and its conflagatory principles, I'm only to happy to do so.

RW

I'm called a slut as a term of endearment.

Tell me again how tv makes you look badly.

Significantly fewer.

Who has the greater number of representative in legislative policy making?  MEN.  Why do policies exist in the first place?  Because of RAMPANT discrimination against women and minorities by guess who?  MEN.

Some men do deliberately set out to demean females.  Some deliberately harass, bully and abuse them, including in the workplace.  Do you think a guy "accidentally" pisses in a tradewoman's toolbox or unintentionally leaves a big black dildo on a police woman's desk?  GET REAL.

Tell your fellow bros who run the shows to stop portraying you so badly.  Tell your legislative leadership the same while your at it.  Apologize for your brutal treatment of women historically and stop saying your dick makes you more competent at being a leader.

Another story out of Australia where sexism supposedly doesn't exist...

Female construction worker subjected to assaults, bullying and rape threats, awarded $1.3 million

A female road construction worker subjected to assaults, sexual harassment, bullying and rape threats at a Melbourne workplace has won a $1.3 million payout.

Melbourne woman Kate Mathews sued Winslow Constructors for abuse, bullying and sexual harassment over the two years she worked there as a labourer.

The Victorian Supreme Court heard that between August 2008 to July 2010 fellow workers threatened her with rape, touched her inappropriately and mocked her about sex toys and sexual acts.

On one occasion a co-worker remarked: "Anything that bleeds once a month should be shot."

Another told her: "I am going to follow you home, rip your clothes off and rape you."

Kate Mathews said some workers grabbed her and pretended to perform sex acts on her, she was also slapped on the bottom, shown pornographic images, and asked "would you do this?".

She said working at the company was "a filthy experience every day".

She said when she went into the job she expected a bit of a macho culture, but not the appalling treatment she was subjected to.

"This was hardcore filth that I was getting," she said.

"I tried to ignore them and just walk off, shaking my head."

She was also commonly called "useless, spastic and bimbo".

She said when she tried to report the abuse to her employers, nothing was done.

"They didn't respond, that's why I'm sitting here," she said.

...

In his judgement, Victorian Supreme Court Justice Terry Forrest agreed Ms Mathews was a good worker and now suffered a chronic psychiatric illness.

He agreed with medical advice that Ms Mathews was unlikely to ever work again.

Now I know this is not as serious as being portrayed as the villian on the telly, but I thought it was rather telling of the seriousness of workplace sexism.  Do you wonder why women steer clear of male dominated professions?

And again...

ONE incident, in which the offender was duly punished, and you fly your feminist flag.

How many times must I repeat that there are clearly areas that require improvement. But I again repeat that you are looking at spot fires and declaring a national emergency.

I would have thought $1.3M would signify that behaviour as described is not tolerated. What else would you like? A beheading?

Quote from: "RW"I don't believe in discrimination against males.  If you are basing the rest of your crap on the premise, you're off on the wrong foot.

There is no discrimination against males. For example the old goat specifically mentioned males being unwelcome in "nursing"; well that's really strange because in a field where women dominate, men are still paid more.

Across the entire nursing field, on average, female nurses earn 91 cents to every dollar male nurses earn.

Now somebody tell me all about this mythical male discrimination.....I'll cry them river.  :001_rolleyes:

Just like the crust in his shorts, your friend's point of view on this issue is right out of the mid 20th century. All his long winded bullshit isn't going to change the fact that he is a dinosaur. I'll bet he even has an extra primitive brain in his ass just so he can move his legs.

As you already stated, thankfully his kind is now transitioning out of the workplace. I would even take it a step further and state that women will never have equality until his kind is transitioned out of....life.

This "argument" is absolutely retarded!!!!

I think we all have seen discrimination in one form or another for both males and females to some degree, i do know females get it more than males but we have it too. And truth be told it happen to me and to the females where i worked.

I have to say that women do get the shitty end of the stick though. BUT!!! to tell you a short story in my experience.

I had trained a lady to do the same job i had done and when it was time for me to take holidays or if i was sick she would "do my job" BUT!!! she was never paid the same wage, i want to add that i have been doing that kind of job for over 23 years so i dont think my employer was ready to give someone the same wage for the same work with little experience. So in that situation i think it was fair for her to have to work up to that wage even though she was doing the same duties as i was.

Justice was done. When do males get their justice served?

This is part of the problem.  You see these things as a series of isolated incidents but when you put them together, it shows a systemic problem.  You see that with the RCMP case I posted above.  Almost 400 women have come forward with similar complaints ranging from bullying and harassment to assault and rape.  These are NOT spot fires.

The reason I posted this recent article from Australia was to demonstrate a couple of things:

This case shows that the abuse this woman was subjected to stood up to the requirements of proof in a court of law.  It wasn't just story telling but rather evidence that satisfied a legal test.  I don't think even you can sweep THAT under the rug.

It shows that her complaints were not taken seriously and were dismissed and not dealt with at the workplace level.  This is a common theme with complaints lodged by women against men.

This woman was paid out $1.3 million dollars because she was so psychologically damaged that she probably will NEVER be able to work again.  What price would you put on your future earning potential and emotional well being?

Speaking of fires, fire departments seem to have similar problems...

The men of the Richmond, B. C., fire department are feeling a little more heat than usual these days. And the controversy quickly building around them is showing no signs of abating.

It was revealed this week that all four female firefighters employed by the department -- a whopping 2 per cent of its entire work force -- are now off work, two on unpaid leave, two on paid.

One has filed a human-rights complaint, while two others have initiated grievances within the department about the often miserable and untenable working conditions for women.

A fourth, Jeannette Moznik, filed a lawsuit last August against the city, the department, the fire chief and a number of male colleagues.

In the suit, she alleges a condom filled with fluid was once placed inside her locker with a note that read: "We will get rid of you cunt." She alleges she was sent inside a burning building with another female firefighter and when she asked male colleagues to turn on the water pressure, they refused.

The firefighter Ms. Moznik was with that day was Jocelyn Roberts, who committed suicide in February, 2005. Ms. Moznik's statement of claim alleges her deceased colleague also endured harassment.

The lawsuit says Ms. Moznik was repeatedly harassed by male colleagues between 1997 and 2001.

It continued unabated, she asserts, despite lodging complaints with the union and management.

Ms. Moznik alleges that, on another occasion, male colleagues placed human feces in her boots and overalls.

I'm sure these fine fire fighters didn't intentionally demean their female coworker by putting shit in her boots.   :001_rolleyes:

The abuse was confirmed by a fellow make firefighter as well.  Former fire chief Rick Papp (a whistleblowing dependent on the case) is quoted in court documents saying:

"I think that the climate was discriminatory; it was hostile,".  The harassment was so pervasive that a computer game containing derogatory remarks against female firefighters was also played in one of the firehalls."
