Ex-Liberal MPP Says Liberals Paid Sexual Harassment Complainants To Keep Quiet

Days after telling the media that two Liberal MPPs were the subject of sexual harassment complaints, Premier Kathleen Wynne outed one of them as Kim Craitor, Friday afternoon.



After Friday's disclosure by Wynne, Craitor told the Niagara Falls Review that the allegations were "unfounded and unsubstantiated" and that his resignation was required, according to party officials "to protect the premier."



Craitor also told the newspaper that the Ontario Liberal Party paid the complainants to keep quiet.



"I do know that the party paid them to keep the allegations quiet, and had them sign a non-disclosure agreement not to talk," the newspaper quoted him as saying.

Rape, sexual harassment allegations rock Greenpeace India



NEW DELHI: Environment rights NGO Greenpeace India could be in for more trouble as an ex-staffer has gone public with allegations of rape and sexual harassment by her colleagues.

 

The organization's inaction against the perpetrators has spurred more female ex-employees to come out with similar accusations. Now, the NGO is at the receiving end with activists lambasting the organization's irresponsible handling of the cases.  



Recently, Greenpeace was in the news after the government froze it's accounts for non-compliance of norms. The Delhi high court, however, released two of its accounts so that it could function.



In an article published on a web forum last week, an ex-employee (name withheld) of Greenpeace alleged that she had to leave her job in 2013 after being sexually harassed and raped by her colleagues.

I had a roommate from India, he said rape is common there.



He also said if a woman walks around immodestly, showing off too much T&A, bra-less shirts, like they do in much of North America, she greatly increases her chances of getting raped. That's just what he told me. I've never been there tho.



So in the case of India, may have less to do with the politics or orgnization as the culture.

Greenpeace India has admitted it failed to create a gender-sensitive environment for its workers, and apologised for its handling of a sexual harassment complaint by a female staff member while acknowledging the alleged rape of another woman.



The environmental group, which is already embroiled in a legal battle with the government over questions on its funding, said an internal review found lapses in how it dealt with crimes against women and gender sensitivity in the workplace.
