I did not know you have supervisory experience..

Your wages would be $45-60 per hour base rate plus a company truck..

In IBEW your totel gross pay would be close to $70 per hour..

You would work an 8 hour day with the option of overtime after that and depending on circumstances it could double wage or 150%..

My husband is also a supervisor and he said he would have little trouble making $200 per year in IBEW and that's without killing himself with overtime hours..

Without overtime and just working in a shop you would make over $80,000 per annum at one of the lower paying jobs..

Most electricians make much more than that though.

In Finland there is electrician, electrical-engineer and diploma electrical-engineer.

I draw blueprints for facilities and I supervise the construction.

My husband apprenticed for 4 years on the job with 8 weeks per year in technical college..

Is this the kind of route you took Odinson?

3years of studying to become an electrician, 4years of studying to become an engineer.

There are periods where you can get some real experience by working in a company.

You could name your price out West Odinson.

Wow.

Out here we have a surplus of electricians and engineers.

The government has been creating us far too many.

We are not aware of the fact that we could make heaps of cash elsewhere.

My friend studied to become a "plumming engineer" (that is just a literal translation) because he couldnĀ“t find a job.

My husband is a journeyman electrician, but not an engineer..

Would you like me to ask him what he knows about demand and wages for electrical engineers?

My husband estimates about $120,000 per annum base rate and based on a 40 hour week..

I will send a link to a third party company that hires engineers..

Are a lot of people having a hard time getting by? Is there a lot of consumer debt like here in Canada? Unless people are getting a lot of help from their parents they must be having a hard time getting by IMO.

Nope. We just live more conservatively.

Debt levels are manageable? One thing that is very expensive here in Alberta is housing. We own a house here in Edmonton and a condo in Fort McMurray and both are overvalued IMO.

They are.

How big is your house and what did it cost?

A lot of people from other provinces in Canada have moved to Alberta to take advantage of the resource boom. As the demand for housing went up so did prices including a few years ago bidding wars. My house in Edmonton is 4 bedroom, 3.5 bath with 2.5 car attached garage on a large lot in a new subdivison. It is worth about $475k right now I estimate. My condo in Fort Mac is 2 bed/2 bath with one surface and one heated underground parking stall. We paid $350k for it.

Hmm interesting.
