At least you can purchase overland flood insurance in the USA..

It's been three years since the Southern Alberta flood and a lot of houses were not repaired, at least by their owners.

Same here.

Flood insurance only covers water from INSIDE the house.

I thought that was a Canadian thing only.

We can still get it on the coast but since Hurricane Ike it has skyrocketed. A price we will have to pay to live there when we retire.
I've learned that if someone asks you a really stupid question and you reply by telling them what time it is, they'll leave you alone

It's fair that overland flood insurance is expensive on flood plains or in your case, a hurricane zone..

We would like the opportunity to purchase it.

So, outside flood insurance is available in Aus?

GORDY GAMBINO

yes it is but generally huge premium loading and it sells to people who only need it

ie those living in low areas where the collapse of a river will cause a flood

I have no need of overland flood insurance where I live, but there are communities across Canada that are built entirely on flood plains. They would buy no matter what the premiums are.

Even if I were a fruit, I would be just as popular with guys as I am as a straight guy with the gals. And I never have to pay for it, (although I did a few times) like you do.

I own a condo, but I knew about this.
