The legendary Hank Thompson remained active into his 80's. He had many hits. This went #1  back in 1952:

Yes. Merle influenced countless artists. This isn't one of his biggest hits, but it's one of my favorites. I bought the album when it came out:

I hadn't listened to this in many a moon. It spent 5 weeks at #1 on the country charts and even spent a week in the top 25 of the pop charts in 1968.  Henson Cargill wasn't as big of a name as Haggard, Owens, Thompson. et al, but he did leave a mark on the history of country music:

Amen.
Deo vindice

Trick Pony was formed in Nashville in 1999.  They had a top-20 hit with this in 2000. It's a really good, jumpin' number:

Amen.
Deo vindice

The Dixie Chicks were founded in 1989 in Dallas, Texas. They've done a coupla stupid things along the way that hurt their career, but there's no denying their talent. They have sold a lotta records. This isn't by any stretch their biggest hit, but it's a damn good number from 1998:

Amen.
Deo vindice

Hank was one of the old time country greats. Born in Nova Scotia, he became a naturalized American citizen in 1958. He wrote this ballad which has been covered by many, including Elvis. It was released in 1952:

Amen.
Deo vindice

This song is always going to remind me of Imlay city. Michigan has a lot of cute small towns. Imlay is one I lived in off and on for 14 years. I loved living there. I lived right "down town" above a resale shop and a taco place lol. Everything was walking distance. The park. My kids school. The local family owned Pizza Place. The library. The local pub.

 God I miss it.
My happiness is all of your misery. I put good dick all in my kidneys.

One of the few songs that can make me tear up.
