Quote from: J E B Stuart on August 08, 2025, 04:48:15 PMYou can knock AC/DC all you want. I don't give a shit. I like 'em. Yep, I like 'em a lot. I almost posted this in the lesser known gems thread because it wasn't released as a single. Oh well, eenie meenie minee moe put it in this thread. That said, Brian Johnson has proven to be a great replacement for the late great Bon Scott, but if I'm choosing, Scott wins out. From their Highway to Hell album, this is one of my favorites:

Amen.
I know this tune from my prairie youth.

Blue Öyster Cult goes way back to 1967 when it was formed in Stoney Brook, NY. They've had a few hits over the years and have sold over 25 million records. I've seen 'em live twice and would see 'em again if given the opportunity.  This is their first single from 1972:

Amen.

Faces was formed in 1969 by the remaining members of Small Faces after Steve Marriott left to form Humble Pie.  Joining them were Rod Stewart and future Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood. They record four albums before breaking up in 1976. This is from their last album and is one o' my favorites:

Amen.
Deo vindice

One of my favourite artists was born and raised about twenty five kilometres from where I live. Gordon Lightfoot was a poet.

I think I have posted this song before, but I am posting it again.

Grateful Dead was formed in Palo Alto, CA in 1965. Many years ago, I tried to become a fan.  I gave 'em a lotta my ear time. I even have three of their albums and a solo one by Jerry Garcia, as well. But, the cold hard truth is that, try as I might, I just don't care for over 90% of the stuff I've heard.  And that's not to suggest I think it's awful. Rather, just nuttin' special to my ears.

But like so many things, there are exceptions. This is one of 'em. It's a pretty listenable tune. It even makes my playlist once in a while:

Amen.

Head East is an Illinois band formed in 1969. I saw them live years ago and I have their "Flat As A Pancake" album. To this day, I am baffled as to why they didn't have more success. That said, one thing is for sure - they produced a top-shelf rock classic that remains really good to this day:

Seems like I've been listening to The Nuge most of my life.  I've seen him live eight times over the years.  This is from 1975:

I really didn't get into the Nuge's music until I was in my thirties and working in the Middle East.
