Canned Heat was formed in 1965.  This 1968 hit of theirs remains one of my favorites. Lead singer Alan Wilson sadly became a member of the 27 Club on September 3, 1970.  In fact, I think he died two weeks before Jimi Hendrix of acute barbituate intoxication. There was speculation it was suicide, but he did not leave a note.  Fortunately, he did leave us some great music, including this number:

Amen.
Deo vindice

Formed in 1968 in Brooklyn, New York, Alive and Kickin' is the quintessential one hit wonder.  And what a hit it was. Written by the great Tommy James and Bob King, the song made it all the way to #7 and stayed on the charts for 16 weeks in 1970:

Amen.
Deo vindice

I confess I don't frequently listen to The Moody Blues, but I will give them some righteous props. Formed in 1964, the hall-of-famers have sold over 70 million albums. Released in 1968, this is one of my favorites, although it isn't even close to being one of their biggest hits:

Amen.
Deo vindice

All 1960's music sounded similar.
