"Not my Alberta": Sandra Jansen Leaves Alberta PC Party For NDP



Alberta Progressive Conservative member Sandra Jansen crossed the floor to the governing NDP Thursday, saying the moderate party she called home for 30 years is moving to embrace a far-right ideology.



"I need to be true to the values of my constituents and my own values,'' Jansen told reporters at the legislature, standing beside Premier Rachel Notley at a news conference.



"So I'm supporting a party now that believes in those values, too.''



She quit the PC leadership race earlier this month, saying online and in-person abuse from supporters of another leadership candidate became intolerable.



"That is not my Alberta.''

Racist Alt-Right Posters Appear Near Toronto Elementary School



Shocked parents in Toronto were faced with racist posters while dropping their children off at elementary school on Monday, one day after the U.S. president-elect made an alt-right leader his top advisor.



The posters, which appeared on poles near Parkside Elementary School, began with: "Hey, White Person." They rail against political correctness, immigration, diversity and "being told you're 'racist' for celebrating your heritage," and included links to white supremacist and alt-right websites.



This is not the first example of Trump-fuelled racism not only spilling over the border but also landing at elementary schools. The day before the U.S. election, parents in the Ottawa suburb of Kanata discovered a swastika and KKK spray-painted on a school.

Ottawa's Machzikei Hadas Synagogue Vandalized With Anti-Semitic Graffiti



The prime minister decried anti-Semitic graffiti spray-painted at a Jewish place of worship in Ottawa — marking city's third act of racist vandalism in days.



Congregates first noticed swastikas and racist slurs painted on the doors and walls of Machzikei Hadas synagogue on Thursday morning, according to the Ottawa Citizen.



One message encouraged murder in order to "save the white race."

Ottawa Mosque, Church Hit With Racist Graffiti



It happened, again.



Ottawa police are investigating after two more places of worship in the capital were tagged with racist graffiti.



The Parkdale United Church and the Ottawa Muslim Association were tagged with racial slurs and swastikas on Thursday, the Ottawa Citizen reports.



Anthony Bailey, the church's pastor, told the paper he believes the acts weren't committed by just one person or group.



"There is an emboldening that has taken place, I believe," Bailey said.

Rep. Luis Gutiérrez (D-Ill.) isn't mincing words in his condemnation of Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.), President-elect Donald Trump's pick for attorney general.



"If you have nostalgia for the days when blacks kept quiet, gays were in the closet, immigrants were invisible and women stayed in the kitchen, Senator Jefferson Beauregard Sessions is your man," Gutiérrez said in a statement Friday.



Sessions caused controversy for making racists remarks when he served as the U.S. attorney for the Southern District of Alabama in the 1980s. He was under consideration to become a federal judge during this period. But testimony alleged that he had called a black attorney "boy." He also allegedly said that civil rights groups were trying to "force civil rights down the throats of people who were trying to put problems behind them," joked that he had no problem with the Ku Klux Klan besides their drug use and agreed that a white lawyer with black clients could be a race traitor. His nomination for the judge post was defeated.

Trump cucks try to 'punish' Starbucks by giving Starbucks more business



Donald Trump's most ardent coffee-drinking followers are not happy that Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz endorsed Hillary Clinton this year — and they've come up with a curious way to get revenge.



As The Hill reports, Trump fans have started asking Starbucks baristas to write down Trump's name on their cups when they order drinks. The "movement" was inspired by a Trump fan who had a temper tantrum in a Starbucks earlier this week when he accused Starbucks of engaging in "anti-white discrimination" because his coffee was delayed.



Now Trump fans are posting their #TrumpCups all over Twitter in an act of rebellion against Starbucks that also happens to involve giving the company more of their money.

And let me say this. There recently have been reports that the new Administration plans to force Muslim-Americans to register for some sort of master government list.



Look, Islamic extremism is a threat to us all. But as Jews, we know what it means to be registered and tagged, held out as different from our fellow citizens.



As Jews, we know the righteous and just response. All of us have heard the story of the Danish king who said if his country's Jews had to wear a gold star ... all of Denmark would too.



So I pledge to you right here and now, because I care about the fight against anti-Semitism, that if one day in these United States, if one day Muslim-Americans will be forced to register their identities, then that is the day that this proud Jew will register as a Muslim.

Sessions's actual track record certainly doesn't suggest he's a racist. Quite the opposite, in fact. As a U.S. Attorney he filed several cases to desegregate schools in Alabama. And he also prosecuted the head of the state Klan, Henry Francis Hays, for abducting and killing Michael Donald, a black teenager selected at random. Sessions insisted on the death penalty for Hays. When he was later elected the state Attorney General, Sessions followed through and made sure Hays was executed. The successful prosecution of Hays also led to a $7 million civil judgment against the Klan, effectively breaking the back of the KKK in Alabama.

In his memoir, Byrd wrote, "It has emerged throughout my life to haunt and embarrass me and has taught me in a very graphic way what one major mistake can do to one's life, career, and reputation."



Because of Byrd's evolution on race and equality, the NAACP issued a statement praising him at the time of his death. "Senator Byrd came to consistently support the NAACP civil rights agenda, doing well on the NAACP Annual Civil Rights Report Card," said Hilary O. Shelton, director of the NAACP Washington bureau and senior vice president for advocacy and policy. "He stood with us on many issues of crucial importance to our members from the reauthorization of the Voting Rights Act, the historic health care legislation of 2010 and his support for the Hate Crimes Prevention legislation."

White Nationalists Are Ecstatic About Jeff Sessions' Nomination



White nationalists are over the moon about Sessions' selection, apparently seeing him as one of their own.



Sessions' vocal white nationalist backers include David Duke, a former Grand Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan, radio host James Edwards, writer Hunter Wallace and video blogger RamzPaul.



Andrew Anglin, editor of the neo-Nazi site The Daily Stormer, wrote that Sessions' nomination, along with the appointment of retired Gen. Mike Flynn as national security adviser and Steve Bannon as Trump's chief strategist, is "like Christmas."



But even Anglin acknowledged that the very features that make Sessions an attractive pick to neo-Nazis might make Senate confirmation challenging.



"The reason he might face trouble? Because he's a racist and most of these RINOs (Republican in Name Only) in Congress are filthy cuck traitors to the White race and the GOP," Anglin wrote.
