Is it legal for Chinese restaurants here in Canada to not pay employees time & 1/2 for working on holidays? The Chinese restaurants here in Vancouver never pay employees hour 1/2.
Time is malleable

They are breaking the law.

Vancouver

Any holidays in general. Such as Easter Monday, Canada day, Thanksgiving. In fact not just restaurants, but chinese shops and stores as well. There is no way that the guy chopping BBQ pork in Chinatown is getting time and a half for any holidays that he's working.

Do you know anyone that's getting ripped off?

My mother used to work in a Chinese restaurant in Calgary when she first arrived from Taiwan..

Cheating employees was not an uncommon practice at the time and it would seem still is..

Why aren't labor laws being enforced?

Zetsu

It's kind of sad they still practice this kind of crap over here in Canada.

It is Zetsu and I wish the proper authorities would crack down on it.
