Just over a million canadians are now juggling more than one job and work an average of 50 hours a week, according to a new statistics canada survey.



The number of people working multiple jobs has almost doubled since 1978, rising rapidly in the 1980s, then edging up to 5.7% of the canadian workers in 2018, according to the report, titled Multiple Jobholders in canada.



Women, part-time workers and people in their 20s are more likely to hold multiple jobs, the report said.



"People engage in multiple job-holding for various reasons, such as out of finan-cial necessity, to ensure continuous employment, or to accumulate skills and expertise in other occupations," report said.



People who hold more than one job typically work in female-dominated sectors of health care and social assistance, and educational services, said the report.



While the statistics canada report does not offer insight into how these workers' fare financially, a recent bank of canada survey found one third of canadians chose to take up "informal work," such as driving for a ride-sharing service, housecleaning and babysitting, as a result of weak economic conditions.

Think about this scenario: Each and every day a breadwinner heads out the door to perform a job that supports a whole family. It's hard work and sometimes thankless, but the breadwinner does it because it keeps food on the table and a roof over everyone's heads.



But the family mocks the breadwinner's job and actively seeks to undermine the work. Surely this can't last. Eventually, something's got to give.



On Thursday, something gave. Big time. Encana Corp. announced plans to exit Canada and establish its base in the united States early next year. Once the country's largest company, the energy sector giant no longer has confidence in the future of Canada's oil and gas sector.



Jobs will be lost. Revenues to government coffers will decline. The broader economy will suffer a hit.



The only people cheering will be the radical fringe — those activists who are the privileged children determined to tear down the breadwinners in their broader world.



Here's the worst part of all this: This state of affairs could have easily been avoided. Canada could have simply chosen to not let our industry decisions be driven by the demands of the radicals.

Youve said and I believe it.  It won't ever happen.  If it did, imagine the outrage and massive freak out sessions.  I do believe we need more teachersand they should get on that Cause Canada ain't getting any smaller.  But I also feel they need cameras in schools, not for the kids...for the staff.

All three levels of government are responsible for people working longer to make ends meet. Taxes raise the cost of everything. Raise taxes and you make necessities more expensive or they divert money for necessities to government confiscation.
