You confuse private keys with mnemonic wallet backups. There is no need to dl a block when you already have your private keys from transactions.

Your wallet will reveal both. Nothing to do with the block though. The block only shows public. So when you dl gigs and gigs of the most recent block ledger, you are doing absolutely nothing for yourself.
