Quote from: "Shen Li"I've never been on a cruise. They take more time than I'm usually willing to spare.

The Mrs and I have done 4 repositioning cruises over the years; Most are a 3 night cruise between Vancouver and LA; some are longer and make stops along the way.

We've done 3 southbound/September cruises; and 1 northbound/May cruise between the 2 ports.

We've also done the week long Alaskan cruise for our honeymoon;  and then last May did the 12 night British Isles cruise all around the UK.

How are accommodations and meals on cruise ships? Is there entertainment too?

I'm not going to lie; some cabins on the cruise ship can be a little cramped. You can pay a little more for a cabin with a window/view or even a balcony.

The food on the ship is great! Buffet's; fine dining restaurants; pubs; burger and pizza bars... Some of the finer dining comes with extra cover charges.

There is a large theatre onboard with live shows and movies as well as lectures and such.

Most cruise ships have a number of retail stores and a casino that are both open while the ship is at sea. The repositioning cruises often have end of season sales too. Lie at the end of the Alaskan season most Alaskan themed merchandise is reduced to clear!

Other than the cramped sleeping quarters, it sounds exciting.

If just 2 people in the cabin, it's not bad. But if you have 4 people in a cabin, it can be cramped.

We've enjoyed all the cruises we've been on, and all with Princess cruises. We got spoiled the first time being unexpectedly upgraded to a full sized suite! The bathroom was bigger than the cabin I originally paid for!

I'd highly recommend the seasonal shorter 3 night cruises, between Vancouver and California, to get your feet wet so to speak. Or the week long Alaskan cruise.

Talking about ocean vessels, I'm reminded of my recent discovery. I did not know such a fish existed. It's the Ocean Sunfish. Oh my God. They are so unusual and unique and it never caught my eyes before until now. Sheesh. I thought I'd seen everything.

Frood

We're going away and camping fishing soon. It's inland along the shores of a flooded valley. We try to catch Murray Cod.

Quote from: "Superchecker"Hi Gang; almost every year the Mrs and I venture down to Las Vegas, it's our fun place. We didn't go in 2017, because we did the big 3 week long UK adventure instead, to help celebrate our 20th.

I already had our hotel booked for Spring 2018, and was keeping an eye for some seat sales for the flights. Low and behold last night at dinner: I found a hot price!

Airfare from Vancouver to Vegas, and back, for 2 people, can come in at around $800, unless you are willing to do later overnight flights, or flights that are not direct.

In late 2016: I found a deal thru "Flight Hub" for just $660! (Daytime flights, no stop overs) So, have been checking various websites since Christmas; and WestJet was coming in around $800 again, and then they had a seat sale and it was down to $720 or so.

But last night I had to do a double take when I was checking "SkyScanner" and they had a deal that came up at $520!! C-A-N-A-D-I-A-N-!! I BOOKED IT! It comes up as a United Airlines flight, BUT "operated by Air Canada"! We leave at like 8:40am on the Monday, and return Friday afternoon!!

Might splurge and see Cher; or the Michael Jackson Cirque Du Soliel show.

This will be trip #18 to Vegas!!

I also have 2 weeks off just after my 50th Birthday, not sure what we might do, but we also always enjoy Disneyland in Septemer.

Any vacation plans for 2018? Where do you often frequent/go?

We're going to Central America next week. We're going to Mexico in late spring.
