I can longer enjoy such indulgences.

Both knees are being replaced in May. There is a body weight limit on having 2 knees replaced.

I have to ensure I stay below that weight or they will send me home.

No cakes. No chocolate. No beer. No fun food at all.

Man that kind of sucks, but on the good side your heart will thank ya for it, knowing the fact you'll lead a healthier and longer life, it makes us kind of happy.

I understand you might miss some of the food you use to enjoy, but I found out something that might be useful to you.

The secret to losing weight is to starve yourself from carbohydrate and sugar for at least 7 to 10 days, maybe even more if needed;  Once you kick into 2nd gear and start burning the body fat that everyone dreams of b/c of the serve lack of energy source, you'll start losing weight pretty fast, I tried it and I lost as much 12 ounce per day(losing about 20lbs of body fat in the end from when I was at my heaviest), and know a friend that lost 50lbs of weight (almost a quarter of his weight) from this diet plan.  After losing the weight to ideal amount, you can go back to eating a bit of sweets and low amount of carbs(roughly 2-3 serving per day max), just make sure don't go back to your original carb diet since your body have been starved from carbs you'll absorb a load of nutrients and risk gaining back all the weight you lost before.

The funniest thing is fat from meat/steaks isn't the main cause of high blood pressure, but it's carbs that is the number 1 killer.  My friend tried it and proved it to be true, he didn't ate carbs and avoided sweets until he kicked into 2nd gear/fat burning mode, and started eating fattening steaks, pork chops, wings, etc, and of course including dairy products and most importantly a lot of fruit and vegetables as the majority of his diet (this is extremely critical for vital organ health).  And then went for a body check, all his cholesterol and blood pressure had dropped/improved.  In regards to eating meat/animal fat I'd still be careful about it and don't recommend doing what my friend did by eating off big chunks of fat off the steaks, but it did worked for him for some weird reason and didn't lead him to a heart attack.

This is basically the secret to the Keto diet(as fat from meat is supposed to fully replace carbs as the main energy source), it might not work for everyone probably due to metabolism reasons or the way each person's body absorb nutrients, I'm no doctor here but my friend and I assume the reason why people doesn't think this diet works or is a myth is b/c they never starve themselves from carbs to a level they start depleting their stored fat energy.

Hope this helps.  ac_drinks

I think I'm doing some of this...keeping away from sugar especially.

I don't need to lose a lot of weight...I don't need to lose any in fact. But I am too close to the limit for comfort so I want a margin of safety.

it's going OK...I've lost about 3kg. I'll maintain the momentum for now because it's not really that arduous. I certainly don't believe you need to starve to lose weight. Just make better choices.

I remember you look healthier than a lot of people I know from the photos you've posted, but still I wanted to share it just in case if you ever need an emergency quick weight lost, which I doubt you will need.  ac_cool

But yea, I believe avoiding consuming too much sugar is one of the best choice, as probably everyone already knows, sugar is just a catalyst that triggers your body/cells to be more sensitive when it comes to absorbing more fat from the food eaten.

Low carb diets seem to yield results quickly.

It definitely helps, but it's not really Keto until the person refrain and starve themselves from carbs and sugar for over 10 days and kick into 2nd gear, that's when the person start deflating like a balloon and no cardio work out or liposuction is needed.  ac_cool
