Heard a cougar in the bush

I have come face to face with cougars, bears, etc.. in the woods. One time I came home to a large pack of wild dogs in my yard when I lived on top of a mountain. My dog (a Border Collie) was growling on the porch fending them off. I climbed a tree until they left hoping nobody else would come along while they were there. I only saw them once. They were all different breeds and sizes.

Ya, a temp paralyzer shot would be great for people to use in case they are attacked. Every year someone in my area is either attacked by a bear or cougar :-( Last year we had a momma bear and her cub running between houses in the middle of the day while there were lots of kids playing in the neighborhood. And these kids don't seem to realize the danger they can be in if they are in the path between momma and her baby. Good thing that all us neighbors generally know each other and would help each others kids if we need to and the kids know they can come to our house if they are in danger for any reason and can't get to their house.

I would be so scared for my children if I had bears and cougars in my neighbourhood.

My kids are grown but when they come home late at night, I worry they'll come across a bear or cougar. We've had a cougar outside our fence a few times, she can smell the cat next door. Same as the coyotes, they're getting frustrated they can't get that cat. My neighbor's cat is out during the day but on a leash and can only go to the fence but he sneaks under the fence and sits there, watching the kids play during the day. Well before night, he's inside. His scent is right in the middle of her fence and ours.  :?

I am lucky, all we get are wild rabbits.

Human urine can sometimes keep wild animals away as well.

Big ass dog keeps animals away as well.

I'd love to have a dog but we just don't have the room for another pet.
