The only role that comes to mind when I think of Piper Laurie is Carrie's crazy mother.

My favorite of her roles was as Paul Newman's alcoholic gimpy depressed G/F in the Hustler, which got her first Oscar nomination and is still a great movie (yes, black & white.)

After Carrie, she was also in David Lynch's Twin Peaks series and has continued to work but not as much.

She was arguably hot...I watched Bewitched often.  I was also partial to Diana Rigg in the Avengers.
