Batter UP!! Play Ball!! Let's have a really  peachy ball game

Turns out the kids were heavily sedated  .. my guess out cold ... for the underwater water parts of the trip out

That helps me understand how they could get all out without incidences of raw fear foiling the effort .. knocking mask off etc. etc. which I had expected would happen in several if not all cases

So it seems they were literally pulled / pushed through thew underwater sections  while inert / dead weight and predictable ... NOW it makes sense to me how the were able to get them ALL out OK

Yes. There is no way they could risk a panic attack from any of them.

It does make sense.  A situation requiring the most elite cave divers from around the world to even find them, and then expecting kids that cannot even SWIM, let alone having developed the skills to even simply snorkel on a beach... knocking their asses out for the journey just makes good sense for all involved.

There are sleeping drugs in pill form available, that are not available to the general public, even by prescription from a Doctor.  Throw one of those down the kids throat, and he'd be out cold.

As someone that has spent a lot of time in and around water, I know that the biggest risk of trying to save someone drowning and panicking, is them latching on to you with a death grip, and bringing you under with them also...

Quote from: "iron horse jockey"I haven't been following this. What were the young soccer players doing there in the first place?

They simply  went on a cave exploration tour together with their coach .... got far in and heavy rains filled the lower areas preventing them from getting back out .. very bad timing .. an accident waiting to happen  ... and very poor judgement on the part of the coach

These two guys are going to get our Cross of Valour for their effort saving the kids. Dr Harris was the one who said, who left the cave first, and one who drugged them I guess since he's not only an expert cave diver, he's an anaesthetist as well. A sad part of the story is that Dr Harris father died not long after he left the cave.

One of the boys was having a birthday and they stopped at a shop there to buy food for the party they were going to have in the cave.

Assuming father was of sound mind, at least he died knowing his son was OK and mission was a success...

Yes and his diving partner Craig is a Perth Vet...

they deserve the medals of some sort.... all those guys, from the brave Poms that found them to the guys who manned the pumps.

I think the Thai widow needs compensation and the rice farmer whose land was flooded too needs FULL compensation.

White people are always bad, until they're the only ones that can pull off the impossible, risking their own lives to save some Thai kids...

I think there is something wrong with that guy... he's land locked in the USA so you can't expect too much... Vitriol is just as bad.

Saman Guna, former Thai navy diver (and triathlete) .... risked and lost his life in the cave rescue effort. He didn't ask about the ethnicity or immigration status of the boys in the cave.

One of the rescuers is a finnish man who has a legal business in Thailand.. A real legal immigrant..

ABC 4 Corners tonight has a special on the recuers how they thought that they would lose 50% of those boys... too bad the yanks won't see it.

Elon Musk is causing controversy on Twitter again.

This time, the Tesla CEO and billionaire attacked one of the divers who played an instrumental role in rescuing the Thai soccer team that was stuck in a cave last week. On Sunday, Musk called him a "pedo" on the social network.

Musk's derogatory tweet appears to be a response to comments made by British diver Vern Unsworth, who helped extract the boys and their coach from the Tham Luang cave complex. In an interview with CNN on Friday, Unsworth, a cave explorer, said that the mini-submarine Musk sent to aid the rescue mission was just "a PR stunt."

The diver didn't stop there, however. He said Musk could "stick his submarine where it hurts," and that it had "absolutely no chance of working." Unsworth said the mini-sub was too long and rigid for the cave conditions and that Musk had "no conception" of what the cave passages were like. He also said that Musk was asked to leave the cave, saying that he shouldn't have been there.

Musk fired back on Twitter over the weekend, taking his reply a step too far in calling Unsworth a pedophile, causing many on the social media platform to ask Musk to delete the tweet, which he later did.
