I've never seen them in Perth unless they were caged.

I did see them in Dongara when I was a kid covering a tree by the hundreds...



This is what alarms me... This WA ground night parrot is on the verge of extinction.. Aborigines found some near them in the Pilbara....They're handling them according to the pictures in the article. They should not be touched.

I know this thread is Australian birds, but I'm going to derail a bit and post one of my favourite local birds, the chckadee. They are far less timid than most birds here.They will allow people to get quite close to them.
