A HUGE flock of HUNDREDS of Little Black Cormorants flew over and a smaller flock of Little Pied Cormorants. I have never seen such numbers in one go, ever. Amazing sight it was too.

That's what having the 4k photo  feature does.

I'm having a debate on Storm FB group trying to explain the difference between 4K video and 4k Photo..

It took me two years of owning my camera before I started actually learning stuff on it. Now when I go to Bird groups, I KNOW how they capture striking birds catching fish and so on.... they have 4K Photo which is a fairly new technology.

There is no such thing as a 4K "photo" as such.

Panasonic's party trick is to enable the camera to take still images from the 4K video file. This can also be done in a 4K video editor, but Panasonic have built this into their camera. Neat.

I cannot help but think that stills photography will become obsolete. Images will be recorded via video and the photographer chooses the best still image from the video file.

I'm going to try to do this myself when I'm up and about.

You're wrong I think... I should know, I've taken still grabs from video and stills from 4K PHOTO and the sharpness is definitely in 4k Photo.

4k photo is BRILLIANT for capturing birds flying off. This one didn't work on the weekend but I tried... Sadly I chopped Willies head off...lol And the White-faced Heron blurred on me lol

I think you misunderstand. I agree the Panasonic still-from-video is brilliant.

I was simply saying that the STILL is not 4K (there is no 4K format for still images)...it's a JPG spliced from a 4K video. I wish my camera had that feature, but only Panasonic has it, apparently.

Olympus has a similar, but not identical, facility called Pro Capture. It's good for wildlife.

4K video is different from 4K PHOTO... not the same thing...

here, you better scroll down to 4K photo... ugh, why don't people listen to me?
