Disturbing video shows the moment a Texas transgender suspect repeatedly mowed down a man in Houston before kissing him and stabbing him. Law enforcement has said the footage is some of the most horrifying video they have ever seen.

The transgender suspect – 20-year-old Karon Fisher – was arrested and charged with murder, evading arrest with a vehicle, and assaulting hospital personnel. Fisher was being held on a $2 million bond.

Steven Anderson, 64, was on his way to pick up the mail in his Houston neighborhood on May 3. Suddenly, a white sports car is speeding down the residential street straight at Anderson. The Dodge Challenger slams into Anderson at a high rate of speed.

Surveillance video shows Fisher put the car in reverse and run over Anderson, causing his body to move several feet.

The Biden administration's National Labor Relations Board recently adopted a new and ideologically charged standard on joint employment. This new joint-employer rule, which threatens to create uncertainty and multiple new burdens for employers who contract out part of their work, is currently mired in litigation.

Biden's veto represents a significant policy shift that will adversely affect the business landscape, particularly in a time when economic stability is paramount. This veto not only rejects clear bipartisan legislative action but also imposes additional burdens on businesses already navigating a challenging economic environment.

The NLRB's revised joint employer standard notably lowers the threshold for determining when two businesses are considered joint employers. Under the previous administration, the standard required that a company must have "direct and immediate" control over the terms and conditions of employment to be considered a joint employer.

The new rule broadens this definition, allowing a business to be deemed a joint employer even if it has only indirect influence over the employment conditions of another company's workers. The old standard provided clarity and stability for businesses engaging with contractors and franchisees, but the new standard seems to create ambiguity on purpose.

What does Biden have to gain from all of this? Union votes. But how many votes will he lose if this new rule dampens the economic recovery in an election year?

The veto will have significant implications. First, the new joint employer standard will certainly lead to increased litigation, as the boundaries of "indirect" and "potential" control are tested in courts. The resulting legal uncertainty will burden businesses with additional costs and discourage the formation of beneficial business relationships, particularly in sectors like franchising and contracting, where such relationships are common.

As the U.S. Chamber of Commerce has pointed out, this rule change could "result in decreased business formation and growth, and create significant costs for both large and small companies."

Moreover, in an economy still recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic, the timing of such a regulatory shift seems particularly counterproductive. Businesses are currently facing a myriad of challenges, from supply-chain disruptions to inflationary pressures. The added uncertainty and potential liability under the new joint employer standard could hinder recovery efforts.

Quote from: formosan on May 11, 2024, 11:36:01 AMI spoke privately to Blurt about that character..

I asked him if he would create a blatantly racist handle to make fun of African-Americans and if he did do you think their general reaction would be positive......he replied no.....that's how we felt about the handle he created.

I get the impression with Blurt, it's only racial when people he feels are beneath him do it.

It should be. Taiwan has US military hardware. They can hold off the PLA for a short time until the US and Japan can provide more aid. An EMP attack would bring them to their knees immediately.

Middle East.
Hillary Clinton inspired outrage online after she criticized anti-Israel protesters for what she said was a lack of knowledge about history in the region — and all of h

istory altogether.

The former Democratic presidential candidate made the comments while being interviewed on MSNBC by Joe Scarborough on his show Thursday.

"I have had many conversations, as you have had, with a lot of young people over the last many months now, and you're right, they don't know very much at all about the history of the Middle East, or frankly, about history in many areas of the world, including in our own country," said Clinton.

"But with respect to the Middle East, they don't know that under the bringing together of the Israelis and the Palestinians by my husband, the then-Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak, the head of the Palestinian Liberation Organization, and the Palestinian Authority, Yassar Arafat, an offer was made to the Palestinians for a state on 96% of the existing territory occupied by the Palestinians, with 4% to be given to Israel to reach 100% of the amount of territory that was hoped for," she continued.

"And this offer was made, and if Yassar Arafat had accepted it, there would have been a Palestinian state now for about 24 years," Clinton said.

A new voting reform bill in Georgia, just signed by Republican Gov. Brian Kemp, would require all absentee ballots to be tabulated and the results reported on Election Night.

On Monday, Kemp signed SB 189, which makes several significant changes to Georgia's election procedures. The bill removed some possible conflicts of interest between the secretary of state, the state Board of Elections, and those involved with counting ballots; compels homeless residents to list their county register's office as their mailing address; prevents voters from using a P.O. box or private mailbox service as proof of residency; and requires individuals who have voted or registered to vote in another state or district to re-register in their original district before they will be allowed to cast a ballot there.

The bill also explicitly requires all absentee ballots to be counted and reported within one hour of the polls closing on Election Day.

This new rule is so noteworthy that Jeremiah Poff of the Washington Examiner claimed that it "will do wonders for election integrity in the Peach State" and that "every state should pass" a measure like it. "Public confidence in elections is paramount to keeping civil order and facilitating transfers of power from one party to another. Counting votes in a timely and accurate manner is essential to keeping that confidence," Poff wrote.

Biden is facing a lose-lose situation on the Israel-Hamas war.

Democratic mega-donor Haim Saban is privately airing his frustrations with President Joe Biden's apparent new policy toward Israel.

In an interview on Wednesday, Biden threatened to withhold weapons from Israel if its military forces enter and attack Rafah, a major population center in southern Gaza. In fact, Biden confirmed that his administration officials have already "held up" at least one shipment of weapons.

An ardent supporter of the president, Haim most recently hosted a fundraiser for Biden's re-election campaign in February. He also helped Biden in the 2022 midterm elections and raised millions for Biden in 2020.

His message underscores the political headwinds that Biden faces ahead of the 2024 election.

On one hand, progressive Democrats are upset over Biden's level of support for Israel, and Democratic strategists warn that Biden may have alienated a significant number of young liberal voters with his pro-Israel policies. Moderate Democrats, on the other hand, are generally more supportive of Israel than progressives.

Biden, therefore, is facing a lose-lose situation.
