No wonder Canadians are broke. The Liberal dictatorship is wasting their cash on this shit and raising their taxes to pay for it.
Ya cannot blame companies for taking their investment dollars South of the border.

Quote from: DKG on July 11, 2025, 10:41:57 AMFrankly, I am not surprised that city state is beating Canada in all quality of life metrics. Singapore is a wealthier, better governed, and more innovative society than Canada.
Old Herman has been to Singapore I don't even remember how many times. The city is a transit hub for the region. It's also a regional logistical centre for the offshore oil and gas industry.

It has been ahead of Canada in infrastructure for a long time. But back in the day, working folks had better lives in Canada if you were willing to work hard.

That sure as hell aint the case anymore. Old Shen Li is right, Canada is a third world shithole now compared to Singapore.

Quote from: Shen Li on July 10, 2025, 11:20:24 PMWhat the fuck is that nincompoop pm doing spending 5% of GDP on defense when NATO only calls for 2%. If Canada is smart(it isn't) it would withdraw from NATO and use that money to eliminate the deficit and lower taxes.

Singapore spends a lot on defense. We will spend 3.5% of our GDP on defense this year.
Who the hell knows what Conman Carney is doing. Whatever it is it will not help Canadians.

Quote from: J E B Stuart on July 11, 2025, 05:45:46 AMStillwater was from Warner Robins, Georgia and existed from 1973 to 1984.  I don't know much about them, but they did have one song that made it to #46 on the charts in 1978.  Frankly, I think the tune was underrated as I consider it to be a Southern Rock classic:

Amen.

This is old Herman's kind of music. :good:

Quote from: J E B Stuart on July 11, 2025, 06:43:09 AMThat guy was Rod Evans.  He and Deep Purple parted ways after the first three albums and went on to form super group Captain Beyond in 1971. From Wikipedia:

"Consisting of former Deep Purple singer Rod Evans, former Johnny Winter drummer Bobby Caldwell, former Iron Butterfly guitarist Larry Reinhardt and former Iron Butterfly bassist Lee Dorman, the band had an eclectic style bridging elements of hard rock, progressive rock and jazz fusion with space rock.  They released three albums between 1972 and 1977."

Interestingly, Rod Evans walked away from the music business in 1980.   He worked many years as a respiratory therapist in Northern California.  Of note is he made the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Deep Purple, but didn't attend the induction ceremony.

Amen.

Amen.
They did three albums. I thought it was one, maybe two.
The Gillan and Glover line up was the best. Gillan could scream like few other hard rock singers.

I like this cover of a Little Richard tune.

Damn, this Liberal government is even lazier than when that muppet Justine was the head of the snake.
By comparison, Pierre said he wouldn't send his MPs on vacation until a crime bill was passed.

Quote from: formosan on July 11, 2025, 11:30:06 AMIs this a Lesser Known Gem J E B Stuart?

I've never heard of the song nor the artists?

I thought about putting them in that thread, formosan. I eventually chose against it, though, because the song was pretty big (#10) for a short while and, hence, so were they. I suppose that the passage of time has rendered it "lesser known", but that happens to many artists and bands.

All that said, I expect most music fans alive in the 60's who are still with us, remember the song well.

Amen.
