News & Current Events / Re: Our City Drought

its not just us people I am worried about. I am worried about our oblong shaped Western Australian Long-necked Tortoise or aka Snake-necked Turtle... at one stage they were on the "nearly extinct list" and after careful conservation we had some numbers up so losing a hundred is a major catastrophe. They wouldn't have been caught by foxes if the lake was full.

I can't stop crying and I must because crying is no use.

Finally the national news is reporting our drought that is drying up all our lakes/wetlands. Wetlands are absolutely crucial

The biggest lake close to me is Bibra Lake where dozens of long necked tortoise (only come from there and no where else on the planet) live. The Western Long-neck Tortoise..

The photos and story is on the link but our summer in Perth never disappeared. WINTER IS only a couple of weeks away and winter is no where in sight where we live.

FOR PEOPLE who don't know, I am an extreme die-hard animal lover and that includes ALL ANIMALS except sharks and crocodiles who I believe their protection is actually destroying the environment, not contributing to its preservation of other species. I am one that realizes that too many apex predators are bad for the environment but that is a story for another day.

Right now our lakes/wetlands are drying up.

Climate change might not be happening everywhere but it is definitely really bad in Perth... or maybe it's just our turn for a catastrophe... either way, there is a huge knot in my stomach continually.

I AM WORRIED.

Quote from: Oerdin on May 15, 2024, 01:28:52 PMLast year Democrats passed free health care for all illegals in the state.  That sounds like something that can easily be cut and save billions.  Another one is Democrats passed free abortions for everyone who wants one plus travel money to get to California for you free abortion plus free hotel stays.

We in Australia gave boat people $3,000 to piss off back to the countries they came from...  that worked OK.

Quote from: formosan on May 15, 2024, 12:44:23 PMWe have some colourful ducks here, but some Australian ducks have such beautiful markings like the ones you posted.

You definitely have lovely ducks in Canada...we don't really take much notice of ducks do we? We just take them for granted.

Quote from: Thiel on May 14, 2024, 06:52:54 PMPierre Pollivere is going to make repealing Trudeau's carbon tax his first act, so that will give instant relief to Canadians struggling under Justinflation.

He will also quickly repeal bills C-49 and C-69 to restore confidence in Canada's energy sector. He will streamline the regulatory process Trudeau brought in that makes approving large industrial projects nearly impossible. This will send a message to international investors that Canada is open for business once again. Investment has fled Canada under Trudeau.

Other areas like fiscal responsibility, health care reform, control over immigration, defunding the CBC are trickier. They will take some time.

Immigration should cease altogether. Your citizens should all be housed and people from other countries be invited in where there is a need AFTER all your citizens are taken care of first.

Our government is going to give us all $500 to cope with our power bills.

Did Truedope get elected 3 times?... or twice?

Look, the only way the conservatives will win is if they have a better plan than the liberals.

Maybe I am wrong... I hope so...

What is the conservatives plan for druggies? What is the plan for the native women on drugs and on the streets?

How many drug rehabilitation centres are being built?

Quote from: Frood on May 14, 2024, 08:08:06 PMCanada like most of the West is already lost.

I am leaning towards this notion but you never know... we might turn around and make a last stand.

Do any of you here believe a conservative government can undo what the liberals have done?

I am worried but I can't see people changing morally.

We can't control morality. Our lack of morals is behind a lot of suffering.

How do you put Jeanies back in bottles?

Quote from: formosan on May 14, 2024, 11:00:15 AMThey are both pretty, especially the one on the left.

That is the female I discovered today. They have white feathers around the eye and on their sides.

They are very pretty but those ones look distressed to me from our drought.

This breed is an Australian Shelduck.... Quite pretty ducks.

We haven't had rain for 8 months im Perth and our lakes have dried up. It's quite dire here... I start having a severe panic attack worried for our wildlife...

These birds, Purple Swamphens are not Australian although they thrive in our environment but this one with the mended gummy broken leg was too close in good light to ignore. Not a fashionable bird but a thread filler bird.

What do you think?
