News & Current Events / weak and dumb
November 01, 2024, 11:43:57 AM
I'd prefer not to discuss the American election.....but I read an article this morning I found very insulting and I felt I should share it..

Billionaire Kamala Harris supporter Mark Cuban called women who support former president Donald Trump "weak" and "dumb"

Quote from: DKG on November 01, 2024, 10:36:58 AMBill Gates insisted humanity would need a new religion or philosophy to cope with the reality of AI and the technological conquest of the world.

I thought we already had one. With it's cathedrals in Davos, Brussels, and the UN in New York.
No thank you Mr Gates.....we already have the one and true faith.

Quote from: Biggie Smiles on October 30, 2024, 12:12:13 PMJust holding the woman to the same set of standards she herself set forth. An administration has to take responsibility for anything that happens during that administration.

that's what she said right?

Okay. So HER boss, who's administration she IS a part of said that anyone who disagrees with them is garbage.

what's the angle now, bitch? Biden said this and not you?

Got you checkmate there too, clown

a comedian made a joke about Puerto Rico -- those weren't trump's words. Yet you have no problem holding him accountable for it.

Oh wait? BIden CLarified his comments?

well Trump denounced the joke.

President Biden merely let slip what working families across the continent knew about our elected leaders.

Quote from: Odinson on October 31, 2024, 04:26:31 AMA Chinese worker says that Finland has better working conditions than China...

Thats after he was forced to live in a warehouse full of mining chemical compounds..

He was told to lie about his job related injuries..

And he had to work 12 hours a day, 6 days a week for little pay.

His employers are Chinese who are running a mining business in Finland.

The guy in question has had several injuries and the employer was "less than honest" about the job description prior to hiring.

For an unauthorized migrant, they hope they do what they do for now hoping they can join the mainstream economy in the future.

Quote from: Brent on October 29, 2024, 02:46:20 PMSaskatchewan had an election. The governing Sakatchewan party won another majority. Health care appears to be a big issue like it is in every province. No provincial government is going to fix the decline no matter what they promise.
Opposition parties always promise to fix Canadian health care with billions of dollars more......it never solves the underlying problems.

Health care in Canada is neither free nor universally accessible..

British Columbia spent more per capita on health care than any province West of the Maritimes..

But, a patient in BC spent 14.1 weeks waiting to see a specialist after a referral from a family physician.....then 13.7 weeks for treatment..

That combined 27.8 weeks in BC is three times longer than in 1993..

And there are so many health services from physio to ambulances that aren't covered in Canada..

Health care is the biggest provincial budget item in Canada.....and the costs keep rising while services deteriorate..

I'm very worried about the sustainability of public health care in Canada and Joe should too.

Quote from: DKG on October 28, 2024, 07:45:33 AMCustoms and Border Protection data reveals that the northern border experienced just over 27,000 encounters in fiscal year 2021. By 2024, this number had surged by 637%, reaching nearly 199,000 encounters.

The Swanton Sector, covering 24,000 square miles and including Vermont, along with several counties in New York and New Hampshire, has become by far the most heavily trafficked section of the U.S.-Canadian border.

While the number of encounters impacting the northern border's most heavily trafficked sector may appear inconsequential compared to the staggering reports from its southern border counterparts, the stats reveal a terrifying trend.

Swanton Sector Chief Patrol Agent Robert Garcia stated in an early October post on X, "Border Patrol Agents in Swanton Sector have apprehended more than 19,222 subjects from 97 different countries since October 1, 2023, which is more than its last 17 fiscal years combined."
I assume it's people in Canada with student visas or other short term visas.
