Still outerperforms the others and is seen as the safe haven when the SHTF, eh?

Is this an accurate picture of US economic strength?

Or just a mirage being propped up?

discuss.

Why does the image not also represent SE Asia and West Africa, seems weird that they would involve almost all of SA but not a single country north of Namibia in Africa.

Woman brings a dead man to the bank then tries to get him to get a loan out

Bangu, Rio De Janeiro, Brazoo

Employees of the bank branch, which is in Bangu, were suspicious of the action of the woman - who says she is the niece of the corpse - and called the police.

A woman was taken to the police station on the afternoon of Tuesday (16), after taking a corpse in a wheelchair to try to make a loan of R$ 17,000 at a bank branch in Bangu, in the West Zone of Rio.

Bank employees suspected the attitude of Érika de Souza Vieira Nunes and called the police. Samu went to the scene and found that the man, identified as Paulo Roberto Braga, 68, was dead - apparently there were a few hours. The police investigate how and exactly when he died.

At the police station, the woman said that her routine was to take care of her uncle, who was debilitated. The police investigate if she is really related to him.

A video, made by the bank attendants, shows that all the time she tried to keep the man's head straight, using her hand and talking to the supposed relative - who, of course, does not respond.

Geography:

Everyone knows that, because of the Ottoman stranglehold on the spice trade, the Spanish and Portuguese sought out their own trade routes in order to bypass interaction with the Ottomans. This eventually led to the Portuguese sailing around Africa, and the Spanish finding the new world and sailing around southern America to reach eastern Asia.

Now, if you look at a map of Europe, the nations of Iberia where perfectly positioned to explore and colonize the world. Portugal, for one, only had to worry about keeping friendly relations with Spain, as no other nation had a direct land border with them and thus, would have an extraordinarily hard time invading the nation. The Spaniards had enemies in north Africa, and also in southern Iberia (until they conquered Granada), but this did not last long at all, as the Spaniards where seperated from north africa via the strait of Gibraltar. Not to mention the fact that Iberia is the west-most point of Europe (unless you count Iceland and Ireland).

Technological Advancements: The Europeans had many technological advancements that they adopted from many other nations. Gunpowder, the Sextant, and the Caravel where all instrumental in European Exploration and colonization. By the 19th century, Western Europe was exponentially more advanced than the rest of the world, partially in thanks to the industrial revolution. It was during this century that South and SE asia as well as Africa where conquered and split by many multiple European nations.

Lack Of Foreign Competition:

In the early age of exploration, there where only a few nations that could have begun exploring and colonization either before or alongside the Europeans, however, none of these nations did so. China decided to send treasure fleets Westward instead of Eastward across the pacific, where they would have found the new world, and the account of the Mali Empire discovering South America are dubious at best, although it could have been possible.

Disease:

The European explorers brought many diseases with them on their journeys, including smallpox. These such diseases spread through New World Native populations, wiping some of them out entirely and leaving the vast agricultural and mineral resources for the Spanish to exploit with little to no resistance. There was heavy resistance at first, especially during the 16th and 15th centuries, where the Spaniards had to compete with other South American empires such as the Incans and highly militaristic Mayans. After these initial conquests were completed, resistance to Spanish occupation was almost entirely restricted to rebellions and uprisings, as opposed to wars. Not to mention the fact that the Spanish empire had quickly grown into not only the first Atlantic empire, but also the first major colonial power.

Hello, all. As history is taught in the western hemisphere from a western-centric POV, many other nations that once existed and where highly influential are often left out of school curricula, both in grade school and higher education. Here are a few notable examples of empires around the world that are not often covered by western school curricula.

Rashidun/Umayyad/Abbasid Caliphates:

The Rashidun caliphate was born after the death of the prophet Muhammad. During the next 140 years, the Rashidun and it's 2 successor Caliphates would expand their territory greatly, conquering Iberia, North Africa, and Persia, most notably. The Islamic rule over these territories helped to spread Islam across the middle east, eventually causing it to become more widely followed than Christianity in areas such as Iberia and The Levant.

The 8th-13th centuries became known as the Islamic golden age, This was a time where the Islamic world made many advancements in technology, economics, and culture, which, eventually, where adopted by the rest of Eurasia.

Mughal Empire: The Mughal empire was Founded in Modern day Afghanistan, but they pushed south and eastwards to conquer almost the entirety of India. By the 17th century, the Mughals where responsible for nearly a quarter of the world's GDP. For most of the empire's history, the Mughals controlled a large portion of the spice trade, until their position as a top dog of the trade was eventually dethroned by the Dutch and British during the 2nd wave of colonialism. (the rest of the middle east followed suit, as well as China later on)

How much of a nonce do you have to be to even care?

This behavior is reminiscent of those who choose to avoid walking up a staircase painted with the LGBTBBQ flag.

Quote from: JOE on March 31, 2024, 12:57:07 PMActually I respect these workers and especially the 7-11 I go to every day because we wouldn't have a place to go to for our special coffees or food.

These workers are badly needed to keep our society going.
Otherwise it will collapse.

Minimum Wage is about $12 US ($16 Canadian) per hour where I live.

What is the minimum wage in your state, Kingoffrogs?
I'm in illinois, so it is 14$/hr but will be 15$/hr next year.
