Are these the same agencies that said "Russia stoled them DNC emails!!1!"?

*cough*SethRich*cough*

Oh, then it must be true.
Totally. Without a doubt. Only a crazy person would question it.

Oh, it's not a troll.
I really did, intentionally and rationally, remove the useless bits from my BF forum experience.

I don't know if they believe it's a troll and that's why they're acting the way they do but frankly it doesn't matter to me one way or the other. I didn't do it for *them*.

Quote from: Sloan on September 19, 2024, 10:48:48 AMDay 9 and the barnacles at Bastard Factory are still throwing a complete shit fit over @Garraty_47 ignore list. Aylana is demanding answers as to why a similar ignore list does not exist here.

I'm done explaining to them that the Ignore list isn't about a difference of opinion.

If they haven't caught that clue by now they never will and I'll be damned if I'll keep chucking one at 'em just to watch it bounce off their slack-jawed faces yet again.

I've only ever destroyed one piece of "music":

As a lad I attended a birthday party and the host had a 45rpm record of "Funkytown" that she played over and over and over. I warned her that I couldn't take it anymore. She played it again anyway. I grabbed the record, carried it outside, and blew it up with an M60 I happened to have in my pocket.

I regret nothing.

I know I'm on a sabbatical from politics but just have to say "I called it" this once.

As I predicted Kopmala is following a similar trajectory to Hillary's in that the more she actually appears in public and has to answer questions or interact with random people the more voters are remembering why nobody wanted her as a candidate to begin with.

But it's even worse because while Hillary was vile and unlikable she at least had two brain cells to rub together and form a coherent thought. Kopmala doesn't. She's both unlikable *and* vacuous.

Quote from: Lokmar on September 18, 2024, 11:36:48 AMI bought a Primus CD once. Broke it in half and threw it out the window on Veterans and Wabash Ave the same night. I think it was the early 90's.

There's no accounting for taste.

Or the lack of.  :dontknow:

My parents listened to a variety of music: country and bluegrass, classical, some 'pop' artists of their time like Nancy Sinatra (These Boots Are Made For Walking) and Johnny Cash, even some musicals... in particular I remember hearing 'Jesus Christ Superstar'. While I never really "got into" their favorite genres it did give me an appreciation for enjoying a range of musical styles.

When I was a youngster I mostly listened to whatever was on the radio. Eventually I gravitated to metal and metal-adjacent bands (the first concert I remember attending was a performance by KISS) like AC/DC, Iron Maiden, Scorpions, Black Sabbath, and Ted Nugent (Cat Scratch Fever era). For a while I was more likely to listen to bands like The Cars, The Police, Rush, Foreigner, etc. Then it was more punk, post-punk, and alternative music like The Cure, The Ramones, The Clash, DEVO, Bauhaus, XTC, The Chameleons, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Xmal Deutschland, Dead Can Dance, etc.

Throughout I also listened to artists like Kate Bush, Kitaro, Gershon Kingsley, Vangelis, Patrick O'Hearn, and Philip Glass. I also developed some love for contemporary jazz ensembles like Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, etc.

I still listen to a variety of genres but the music of my teens and 20s (1980s-1990s) holds and probably always will hold a special place in my heart.

Quote from: JOE on September 16, 2024, 10:56:10 PMI just wish for/ want an unbiased news source favoring  nobody & if theres an editorial then there should be a conservative & liberal pov & other at the same time so the reader can make up their mind.

So basically you don't want to see objective news and analysis; you only want to see all the bifurcated mainstream lies in one place without the bother of being subjected to narratives that don't echo the mainstream lies.

That's merely the illusion of being informed. It's junk food for the intellect; it's comfortingly familiar and constructed to be superficially tasty but leaves you malnourished and ill.

No matter which big corporate "news" provider you choose there's going to be an agenda, and bias, and obfuscation, and carefully curated context. They aren't in the business of informing or educating; their purpose is to keep the allowable parameters of discussion well within the limits preferred by the establishment.

Go independent sources or resign yourself to being conditioned and propagandized.

It is known.

I still think her early work as part of the band The Sugar Cubes is her best stuff, overall.

Lisa Gerrard
Elizabeth Fraser
Sinead O'Connor
Aurora
Jesca Hoop
Bjork
Harriet Wheeler
Regina Spektor
Siouxsie Sioux

etc. etc.

...are all better than anything in the "pop" music sphere.

Quote from: Brent on September 15, 2024, 04:09:21 PMThat blimp doesn't like socialists either. At least the real ones.

Liberals don't like conservatives because they're "official" (and traditional) enemies.

Liberals hate leftists because we point out the fact that liberals and conservatives agree on more substantive issues than they disagree; especially war, imperialism, the police state, and austerity.

Liberals might get mad at conservatives but they can also use them to reinforce their own better_than_thou self-image so it's all good. Leftists show them for the hypocrites and liars they are so leftists are entirely insufferable to liberals. We fuck with their presumptions of virtue and superiority.

Can't have that.
