I love music..
KD Lang used to come to Australia a lot.
In fact, here she is on OZ TV doin the all time Orbison song. (She had previously done a wonderful duet with him on this one just before he died)
Song starts about 1 1/2 + minute in

Cohen and Orbison both knew a winner and went with her
Oh hellz, I just got here and dunno whether to go with Cohen or lang, both of whom are personal faves.
I'll say this, kd is awesome doing duets. Even moreso than Emmylou Harris, and I don't say that lightly.

Dang, the video happens to be restricted by my region. Though I've only been to 2 to 3 music concerts in my entire life, but for bands like Yes, I'm not too surprised with the high musical performance during their live concerts, it's hard for me to believe a lot of their songs are composed 5 decades ago, while I doubt songs from singers like Lady Gaga's can last for more than a few years.

I have a good feeling this where song artists get their inspiration from, especially ones that compose epic style music. Meanwhile I check out more of this legendary band on youtube. ac_cool
The genre is called Progressive or simply Prog Rock. It was distinguished from the more conventional musical styles of the late 60's by adopting inspiration from classical music structures.
The origins of prog rock, like all origins, are difficult to nail down. It can be argued that the genre was inspired by The Beatles Sgt Peppers album. But it is equally argued that it really began with Vivaldi, Mozart and Beethoven. We can say that prog rock as a genre was initiated by groups such as King Crimson, Yes, Genesis and Pink Floyd. These all cropped up around the same era...late 60's, early 70's. Yes adopted a fusion of classic structures with rock chords in complex and extended songs. Genesis followed a similar line. King Crimson and Pink Floyd were more experimental and less rock oriented.
The genre's golden age was between 69 and the mid to late 70's. Prog rock incorporated lengthy and complex compositions that were not radio friendly, and prog rock bands were criticised for being self indulgent and somewhat pompous. When the punk revolution arrived, prog rock was seen as bourgesoise and decadent and it largely faded away.
However, it has since recovered and has its fan base still. Yes has recently released a new album.
If you want to explore prog rock further let me know. I can send you in all kinds of directions into the prog world. Some of it is epic, some of it is...interesting. Some of it is plain weird.
Many bands joined the prog rock bandwagon but then moved away to different forms. Uriah Heep is one of these...initially adopting a prog rock style but later transforming into hard rock/metal. This is their prog rock opus.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AHqNxDTYHxU
It's kind of sad how most prog rock band have slowly faded considering the great potential they had if they continue on till this day. I very rarely listen to heavy rock or old classics since I seldom enjoy them, but the one you've posted are a completely different level, a lot of epic style/theme musis with modern orchestra mixed with some techno does have some resemblance with prog rock. I guess epic theme music is more melodic while prog rock gives off a greater vibe/mood.
They are still a matter of taste. And I've only posted those I have enjoyed. There are many more melodic and gentle prog bands such as King Crimson that are more innovative and subtle. But for some they are TOO complex and unstructured. You can't tap your feet to them. And some are downright weird.
Some, like Canada's Rush lean rather too heavily on hard rock elements.
My understanding it that Yes is a typical progressive rock band.
Inasmuch as the word "typical" can apply to prog rock, they are perhaps seen as the most definitive of the genre. But I don't believe the word "typical" can apply.
It is such a broad church.

I understand it's easy for me to say this, but humans can live to around 100 years, don't let old age bother you Bricktop, but show that old age is nothing but a meaningless number and diet and lifestyle is the key to a healthy life. With Google at the reach of our finger tips, there's no excuse to not live for another 30 years or maybe even more, if my grandma didn't have pneumonia, she should have been able to live past 98 years, while the queen is still lively at 95.
My mom says egg is super healthy, while my dad likes apples, avocados, and sweet potatoes, etc. Not to mention there's a world of supplements out there that doesn't take any effort to take on a daily basis. :smiley_thumbs_up_yellow_ani:

Ah, thank you.
But I have already found the secret to a long life.

Lol, I duno should Fash and I be concerned or relief. I'm no expert in a liquor nor do I know your livelihood, but I guess as long as the intake is moderate and doesn't occupy out the other needed nutrients to the body, it shouldn't be an factor or issue. My mom always says a lot of the best things in life doesn't cost any money, while my dad sees mastering the Holy Trinity of health (rest, exercise, and eating) like it's a job requirement or a game to him, I guess he does has a point, rather than seeing things as a chore, just see the good side of the coin or take it as like playing a game or the reward it offers, lol.
Well, it's not quite as it seems.
That stuff can be expensive. So when you buy a bottle, you want to make sure you see it through to the last drop.
This gives you an incentive to live on. So, as long as you keep a full bottle or two...or four, maybe 6 on hand, your will to survive is enhanced and strengthened.
This is something a little different.
Modest Mussorgsky's classical "Pictures at an Exhibition" performed not by a full 80 piece orchestra but by a trio calling themselves Emerson, Lake and Palmer. The live recording preceded their time as an overrated and indulgent prog rock "supergroup".

This one is a bit strange for my taste, it kind of reminds me of something like Disney's Fantasia motion pictures, rather than portraying a full movie or song, only a unique portion of it is performed. ac_umm
It is different and not to everyone's taste. That is the wonder of music.
