ESQUIRE ARTICLE:

QuoteDystopian jargon (like "dumpster fire" and "doomscroll") is taking over the way we talk. But the constant conjuring of End Times is having surprising, unintended—maybe even dangerous—consequences.

General Chit Chat / Are we headed for a crash soon?!
March 28, 2024, 10:05:14 PM
...reason I wonder is the price of bitcoin is skyrocketing

Gold is one thing but when bitcoin outpaces even gold by a wide margin makes ya think a crash might be right around the corner.

We definitely don't live in normal times.

Something's amiss & something is gonna happen.

...I noticed in the last while it's either being discontinued or becoming subscriber only.

What used to be widely available, permanent and sometimes cheap, is increasingly being cut off from the consumer now. Unfortunately, the Internet has enabled software makers to offer it in subscriber versions only. Plus the coming of AI has something to do with it as well.

So, what this means is the end user won't just be able to fire up the computer and use what he/she wanted to without any restrictions. I the future, people probably won't be able to own the software like they used to when it came on a CD or DVD

Anyways, that's just the way I see it. So I've been trying to get the better or high end software while I can before that option is cut off/snuffed out from us one day completely.

I followed an online auction of this car

...and the Hagerty Index has this car valued at about $80,000 US:

https://www.hagerty.com/valuation-tools/chevrolet/corvette/1961/1961-chevrolet-corvette?id=aCn1I000000DPuCSAW&search=q%3D1961%2520corvette

...a good buy?

....not my opinion, just an article I saw in Vox:

https://www.vox.com/politics/24094752/biden-trump-strong-economy-2024-inflation

...moving forward which candidate would do a better job managing the US economy 2025 onwards?

Smooth sailing ahead?
Or a rocky road for either?
#28
...what are the implications of this shift?

Is this good, bad or ugly?

Bitcoin...the new Mecca? A long term sustainable trend?

Or the road to ruin? ...with bitcoin being a flash in the pan?

what's yer take Folks?

The Octagon / My posts seem to offend DKG
March 10, 2024, 07:56:49 PM
...they aren't intended to.

My opinions are just based on current events be they political or economic.

Actually, given the stressors on the economy (the US in particular), I'm surpised that it hasn't crashed just yet. If figger with all the debt in the system (and this isn't just the US), the economy would've crashed and burned by now.

However...maybe there are factors I haven't taken into account which seem to keep the engine running? Maybe the world economy is that much larger than it used to be? And different?

What do you all think?

What is the economic outlook?

...I knew I shoulda bought more.

It went up $40 US an ounce on Friday.
$30 today.

Now the gold seller raised their prices and it's goin outta sight.

Had my chance. I knew I should have pressed the buy button.

Oh well, at least I got the other 15 ounces I'd bought last year.

...and not just Joe Biden either.

But others as well.

They include Diane Feinstein & Ruth Bader Ginsberg.

That party in particular, needs a mechanism to give these old codgers the boot when it's abundantly clear they are no longer viable nor able to carry out their duties as elected officials or appointees.

I noticed that Democrats like to blame Trump and the Republicans for the ascendancy of a Right Wing Supreme Court. But most if not all of that was their own fault, as they should have pressured Ginsburg to step down, particularly after she had received numerous cancer diagnoses. They could have replaced her in Obama's first term when they held the Presidency & Congress.

Truth be known, someone like former Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper at 65 would be considered a 'young man' if he was allowed to run for the President of the United States today. A younger whipper snapper compared to Trump or Biden. At least Canada generally doesn't have anyone over 70 running for or holding high office.

High Office ought not to be a retirement home for anybody. When their time's up it should be up.

....as I got a coffee.

The guy/woman looked like Friar Tuck in a long pink dress down to the knees & was wearing horn rimmed spectacles.

He/she Had a white purse on his/her side with white boots.

I'd guess he/she was about 55-60 and 100 lbs overweight. Looked awful. Really ugly too. Totally gross. It was comical yet at the same time sad.

Thing is...can't say anything about those kinda people anymore cuz they've got 'rights' now.

I pity woman who have to share their private spaces with him/ her now.

The Octagon / Argentinian Women - Are they Racist?!
February 25, 2024, 02:23:30 PM
Since I've never been to Argentina can't say they are or are not.

However, this individual whom I assume might be a Black Man offers his own opinion & blows off an earful:

...maybe he got rejected & this is his way of gettin' back at 'em?

....not her fault either.

But unfortunately she paid the price because of her birth mother.

She didn't really have a chance.

...did some quick searches on the Web only to discover that Shelbys appear to hold their value better after years of use than Corvettes. This also appeared be true on the highly regarded Hagerty Index.

Here's some examples....

Shelby:

Corvette:

...am I Right i this regard?

Do Shelbys hold their value over time better than the Corvettes?

What do you think?

Opinions/comments most welcome.

...could it be a sign of things to come here?

Comments welcome.

...and she wasn't very pleased with the direction of your country.

She told me homelessness everywhere, the middle class is dead in America, money aint worth nothin', and she fears a return of Trump will lead to Civil War.

She doesn't like Trump at all.
But wasn't terribly optimistic about Biden either.

But it's like Garraty said in another forum - which is can't really trust the MSM saying the economy is up, they appear to lie about its true state and the general health of American society.

Now...since I don't live in the US of A, those aren't my opinions or POV.I jes try ta keep an open mind and listen to different viewpoints from either side.

I'm sure when the American tourists come up this summer to Canada I'll hear an earful from either side too. I got along with them both I suspect - because I don't take sides, but just listen to what they have to say. Should be intersting as the election season heats up down south - which I suspect will be a deadly affair just like 2020.
