It aint just one province. Right across the country, agriculture costs are soaring because of Justine's carbon tax.

The crushing impact of the federal carbon tax on agriculture
https://calgaryherald.com/opinion/columnists/opinion-the-crushing-impact-of-the-federal-carbon-tax-on-agriculture

Alberta is a centre for advanced agricultural practices and irrigation, yet the federal carbon tax stands as a formidable challenge.

It is particularly damaging to the province's competitiveness in exporting crops, including the export hay market. Designed to reduce carbon emissions, this tax inadvertently threatens the viability of our most vital agricultural exports by inflating farm and freight costs, eventually eroding market share.

The carbon tax's effect is severe on all operations that produce crops or add value to primary crops. This sector's reliance on energy-intensive processes such as seeding, harvesting and baling, which are powered by diesel-fuelled machinery, means that every uptick in fuel costs driven by the tax directly diminishes profitability, forcing farmers to raise prices in the domestic market.

Value-added operations are saddled with the tax that increases freight, drying and utility costs directly. The damage extends across all ag sectors, including potatoes, sugar beets, canola, peas and specialty grains. These crops undergo additional processing to enhance their market value — cleaning, sorting and packaging — all of which consume significant energy, now more costly due to the carbon tax. Grocery prices have to increase to cover the carbon tax burden.

This tax places Alberta's agricultural export producers at a stark disadvantage. Our main competitors, notably from the United States, are not subject to such fiscal burdens. They benefit from lower production costs, affording them a competitive edge in pricing their products on the international market. As a result, Alberta's value-added crops are at risk of being priced out of the market, potentially costing not only immediate sales but also relationships with global buyers.

The big news is that crude oil is now flowing through the Trans Mountain expansion (TMX) pipeline from Alberta to tidewater on the B.C. coast.

The additional 590,000 barrels per day of capacity will boost the volume of Canada's international exports. It will also result in higher prices for Canadian heavy crude (relative to the North American light benchmark - West Texas Intermediate), raising national income. The added egress should also reduce the volatility of the light-heavy differential, as the extra capacity mitigates against minor disruptions. The improved pricing is not just for the additional barrels flowing through the pipeline, but all heavy barrels produced.

For example, a study by IHS Markit (now S&P Global) conservatively estimates that insufficient export capacity for Canadian heavy crude resulted in $14 billion (US dollars) in lost value for the country between 2015 to 2019.

The Jim Crow Joe administration on Friday concluded its assessment of whether Israel is breaking international and American laws in its U.S.-backed military campaign in Gaza and did not conclude that Israel's conduct requires Washington to cut off aid for the offensive, according to a copy of the assessment reviewed by HuffPost.

The report has major significance for Biden's policy of sending Israel huge weapons shipments, which is largely ongoing despite the president's current pause on providing the country with a specific package of bombs, and despite histhreats of halting more supplies if Israel expands its fighting in Gaza in the coming days.

The assessment says "it is reasonable to assess that [U.S.-provided] defense articles... have been used by Israeli security forces since October 7 in instances inconsistent with its [international law] obligations or with established best practices for mitigating civilian harm."

The US paused a shipment of 3500 bombs. More than half were 2000 lb bombs. The rest were mostly 500 lb bombs.

The Democrats impeached President Trump after falsely accusing him of withholding aid from Ukraine. Now Jim Crow Joe is openly blocking aid from Israel to leave it vulnerable to terrorist attack and to keep the pro Hamas leftists in his voting base happy. Biden is unfit for office and he should be impeached.

The Jim Crow Joe administration hid its decision to pause some arms shipments to Israel from Congress. Just a day before Biden threatened Israel's arms shipments, the administration issued a sanctions waiver to bypass congressional prohibitions on arms sales to countries that boycott the Jewish state, including Hamas patron Qatar and Hezbollah-controlled Lebanon.

Quote from: James Bond on May 11, 2024, 08:04:26 PMPoofer is an amazing indiviual. He makes 10K each week as an influencer and also has a busy forum with thousands of posts each day that nobody has seen and he still found time to visit BF.
UncleDilf has returned too. His threads are still the witty repartee they we expect from a man like him.
Seamajor seems confused in Dilf's threads. He only posts stubby and the Blue Korean.
Seamidget aint mentioning me. Old Herman is gonna cry.
